  • Publication number: 20220192503
Abstract: According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, apparatus and method can be provided for determining information regarding a tissue or an object at or within the tissue. For example, with at least one first arrangement which is situated inside a particular organ of the body, it is possible to generate at least one electromagnetic radiation in the tissue, wherein the tissue is different from and outside of the particular organ. The particular signals that are responsive to the at least one electromagnetic radiation can be detected (e.g., possibly with at least one second arrangement), at least one characteristic of the tissue and/or information regarding the object at or in the tissue can be determined (e.g., with the second arrangement(s)). Alternatively or in addition, the tissue can be different from and outside of the particular organ, and the first arrangement(s) can be situated inside a particular organ of the body.

  • Patent number: 11176596
Abstract: User equipment (UE) includes a short-range transceiver configured for communication with a plurality of wireless access points (APs) distributed throughout a venue. The individual UEs can communicate with the venue via the APs. The UEs can be configured to play interactive games with the venue, some of which may be displayed on the large screen in the venue and others that are displayed on the display of the UE. Data may be sent to the UEs individually or in groups. The data may be in the form of advertising, text messaging, images, video, multimedia, or the like. An array of UEs can receive portions of an overall image and function as individual pixels in a large display.

  • Patent number: 10616619
Abstract: A video or multimedia distribution system receives multiple video streams and transcodes them into a single stream of UDP packets with each of the plurality of video data packets for respective ones of the video streams being assigned a port number corresponding to the respective video stream. The UDP packets are routed to a plurality of Access Points (APs) for transmission throughout a vehicle, such as an aircraft or ship. A User Equipment (UE) communicates with the APs and selects one or more of the video streams for viewing on the UE by selecting the port number corresponding to the desired video streams. The UE can “change channels” to view other video streams by changing the port number to the port number of the desired video stream.

  • Patent number: 10410251
Abstract: An application programming Interface (API) is downloaded to wireless user equipment (UE). The API enables the UE to automatically detect the presence of one or more access points (AP) in a venue and to transmit identification information to the access point to authenticate the UE. The identification/authentication may occur whenever the UE comes within range of any of the APs in the venue. A plurality of venues may be coupled to a Cloud network with the authentication information stored on the Cloud network. In this manner, whenever the UE enters any of the venues, the UE is automatically authenticated when it comes within range of any AP within any of the venues. The venue may use the API to provide advertising to the UE. The Cloud network may aggregate data from a plurality of data sources to provide targeted advertising via the API to the UE.

  • Patent number: 10387918
Abstract: A wireless network is established by direct communication between a user equipment (UE) and wireless access points within a shopping venue. After initial registration, the UE may be automatically authenticated upon entry into the shopping venue. In the venue, the UE sends a periodic signal that includes information from which the UE location within the venue may be determined. The system can develop a shopper profile based on the amount of time spent within the shopping venue, user purchases, and user-provided profile data even under circumstances where the specific identity of the user is not known. The customer analysis and profile generation can be used to produce individualized ads and offers for the UE. In addition, the analysis can develop a retail DNA rating for the user based on various factors, including responsiveness to advertising. A high retail DNA rating may result in even better advertising offers to the user.

  • Patent number: 10244393
Abstract: A short-range wireless network is established by direct communication between wireless devices and wireless access points to permit gambling within a casino. The short communication range of the access points assures that the wireless device is in the casino. A gaming communication link is used to exchange game play data (e.g., betting, card dealing, etc.) between a gaming controller and one or more wireless devices. Game play may be conducted between a player and the house or between a plurality of payers. In one embodiment, all communication is routed between players using the gaming controller so that the house controls the transmission of all game play data.

  • Patent number: 10142661
Abstract: A mobile communication device communicates with at least one of a plurality of a plurality of Access Points (APs) in a venue. The APs receives a single stream of video data packets that are created by receiving multiple video streams and transcoding them into the single stream of video data packets with each of the plurality of video data packets for respective ones of the video streams being assigned a port number corresponding to the respective video stream. A processor in the mobile communication device identifies and stores the video data packets having the selected port number and plays the video stream corresponding to the selected port number on a display. The mobile communication device can “change channels” to view other video streams by changing the port number to the port number of the desired video stream.

  • Patent number: 10129568
Abstract: A video or multimedia distribution system receives multiple video streams and transcodes them into a single stream of data packets with each of the plurality of video data packets for respective ones of the video streams being assigned a port number corresponding to the respective original video stream. The data packets are routed to a plurality of Access Points (APs) for transmission. A User Equipment (UE) communicates with the APs and selects one of the video streams for viewing on the UE by selecting the port number corresponding to the desired video stream. A processor in the UE identifies and stores data packets having the selected port number and plays the video stream on a display. • Patent number: 9855500
Abstract: A short-range wireless communication network may be established by direct communication between two or more wireless communication devices and/or communication via an access point to permit game play between a plurality of devices. A conventional cellular telephone includes an integrated short-range transceiver. The short-range transceivers of multiple wireless communication devices can be coupled together to dynamically form a short-range communication network without utilizing any wireless communication network supported by a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN). Data is disseminated between the wireless communication devices using a data message synchronization process. Messages may also be carried from one wireless network to another as the communication devices are carried by individuals.

  • Patent number: 9749861
Abstract: User equipment (UE) is configured to automatically detect the presence of an access point (AP) in any one of a plurality of venues and to transmit identification information to the AP to authenticate the UE. The venue receiving the authentication request transfers the authentication request and identification information to an authentication server to automatically authenticate the UE whenever it is carried inside a venue. The venues may be coupled to a Cloud network with the authentication information stored on the Cloud network. Whenever the UE enters any of the venues, the UE is automatically authenticated when it comes within range of any AP within any of the venues. The venue may use an application program interface to provide advertising, coupons, web links, images, audio, video, streaming video, and the like to the UE. The venue may direct the UE to a website or provide a link to the website.

  • Patent number: 9715833
Abstract: A communication network includes an instructor wireless communication device and a plurality of student wireless communication devices, which may be conventional smartphones. The student devices do not communicate with the wireless service provider, but communicate with the instructor device in the classroom via a short-range communication network established between the student devices and the instructor device directly or via an access point. In one embodiment, communication with the cellphone network service provider is cut off by disabling the network transceiver in each student device. The instructor device can exchange question and answer data with the student devices. The system can be configured to provide security in student responses to prevent potential cheating. Student answers may be automatically collected, collated, and graded. The answers are accompanied by an ID that uniquely identifies each student.
