Patent number: 12257639Abstract: A miter saw includes a base assembly and a saw unit pivotably coupled to the base assembly. The saw unit includes a saw blade and a lower blade guard covering a lower portion of the saw blade. The miter saw also includes a linkage for raising the lower blade guard to expose the lower portion of the saw blade as the saw unit is lowered toward the base assembly. The linkage is operable to apply a force to the lower blade guard for holding the lower blade guard in a raised position, without any input from the operator of the miter saw and without changing the length of the linkage, to facilitate changing the saw blade.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2021Date of Patent: March 25, 2025Assignee: MILWAUKEE ELECTRIC TOOL CORPORATIONInventors: Taylor Crabb, Josh Adams, Brian Wattenbach, Scott R. Patent number: 12252121Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for controlling a vehicle. In one embodiment, a method includes: determining, by a processor, that a lane centering feature is active in the vehicle; identifying, by the processor, a pattern of steering wheel torque; determining, by the processor, a driver requested offset based on a location of the vehicle and a location of a center of the lane; applying, by the processor, the driver requested offset to a planned trajectory of the vehicle; evaluating, by the processor, one or more duration conditions; and in response to the evaluating, selectively generating, by the processor, a control signal based on the planned trajectory with the driver requested offset.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2023Date of Patent: March 18, 2025Assignee: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS LLCInventors: Xuefei Yang, Paul A Adam, Tetyana V Mamchuk, Brian Porto, Ashraf Abualfellat

Patent number: 12242615Abstract: An adversarial reinforcement learning system is used to simulate a spatial environment. The system includes a simulation engine configured to simulate a spatial environment and various objects therein. The system further includes a first model configured to control objects in the simulation and a second model configured to control objects in the simulation. The first model generates a threat-mitigation input to control one or more objects in the simulation, and the second model generates a threat input to control one or more objects in the simulation. The system then executes a first portion of the simulation based at least in part of the threat mitigation input and the threat input.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2022Date of Patent: March 4, 2025Assignee: NOBLIS, INC.Inventors: Brian Jacob Lewis, Jason Adam Deich, Stephen John Melsom, Kara Jean Dodenhoff, William Tyler Niggel

Publication number: 20250042393Abstract: A system for controlling lateral positioning in a host vehicle includes a controller having a processor and tangible, non-transitory memory. The host vehicle is located on a host lane defined by a host lane center. The controller is adapted to determine if a first and second enabling condition are met. The first enabling condition is met when the host vehicle is travelling on a non-divided road having no physical barrier separating respective traffic lanes travelling in opposing directions. The second enabling condition is met when the host lane is an inner most lane adjacent to an opposing traffic lane. When the first and second enabling conditions are both met, the controller is adapted to determine a non-divided road offset relative to the host lane center in real-time. Operation of the vehicle is controlled based in part on a magnitude, and a direction of the non-divided road offset.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 3, 2023Publication date: February 6, 2025Applicant: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS LLCInventors: Harsh K. Patel, Paul A. Adam, Xuefei Yang, Brian M. Porto, Christopher M. Churay

Patent number: 12069489Abstract: A satellite receiver with a switchable array of antenna elements for receiving wireless signals from at least a satellite is described. The antenna elements may be dynamically selected based at least in part on a location and motion of the satellite receiver, and a location and a motion of at least the satellite that provides wireless signals. Moreover, the antenna elements may also be dynamically selected based at least in part on utilization and/or availability of a terrestrial wireless communication network that communicates with the satellite receiver. The satellite receiver may predict availability of communication with at least the satellite. Furthermore, the array of antenna elements may provide improved power efficiency, pointing accuracy and/or isotropic gain relative to an array of antenna elements without switched antenna elements, such as for carrier frequencies in the V or the W band of frequencies.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2022Date of Patent: August 20, 2024Assignee: Rovial SASInventors: Mikhail Kokorich, Raghunath Das, Peter S Ruderman, Brian Adam Cooper

Patent number: 11838098Abstract: A satellite receiver for wireless signals having carrier frequencies in the V or the W band of frequencies is described. The satellite receiver may receive the wireless signals at high elevation angles, such as greater than 62°. This high elevation angle may reduce losses, which may allow the satellite receiver to communicate at a data rate of at least 50 Mbps. In order to accommodate these system requirements, the one or more satellites that provide the wireless signals may have eccentric geosynchronous or near-geosynchronous orbits that are inclined relative to an equatorial plane of the Earth, such as an eccentricity between 0.12 and 0.3. Moreover, the one or more satellites may have ground tracks substantially along one or more continents, and may be in view of dense population regions in the one or more continents with a higher frequency than low-density population regions in the one or more continents.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2022Date of Patent: December 5, 2023Assignee: Rovial SASInventors: Mikhail Kokorich, Raghunath Das, Peter S Ruderman, Brian Adam Cooper
