  • Publication number: 20030120331
Abstract: This invention is a system for the treatment of body passageways; in particular, vessels with vascular disease. The system includes an endovascular graft with a low-profile delivery configuration and a deployed configuration in which it conforms to the morphology of the vessel or body passageway to be treated as well as various connector members and stents. The graft is made from an inflatable graft body section and may be bifurcated. One or more inflatable cuffs may be disposed at either end of the graft body section. At least one inflatable channel is disposed between and in fluid communication with the inflatable cuffs.

  • Publication number: 20030004560
Abstract: A flexible low profile delivery system for delivery of an expandable intracorporeal device, specifically, an endovascular graft, which has at least one belt circumferentially disposed about the device in a constraining configuration. The belt is released by a release member, such as a release wire, by retracting the wire from looped ends of the belt. Multiple belts can be used and can be released sequentially so as to control the order of release and placement of the endovascular graft. An outer protective sheath may be disposed about the endovascular graft while in a constrained state which must first be retracted or otherwise removed prior to release of the graft from a constrained state. The delivery system can be configured for delivery over a guiding device such as a guidewire. The delivery system can also be configured for delivery of bifurcated intracorporeal devices.

  • Patent number: 6355060
Abstract: A delivery catheter for a radially compressible tubular prosthesis comprises an elongate shaft slidably received within a tubular cover. The prosthesis is carried within a plurality of elongate, relatively hard runners, and is restrained in a radially compressed configuration by the cover. After introducing the catheter to a desired target location within a body lumen, the prosthesis may be released by proximally retracting the cover. The runners may optionally remain disposed about the prosthesis to be retracted separately, or, alternatively, the runners retract proximally with the cover as the prosthesis slides over the hard runner surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6328749
Abstract: A remote endarterectomy ring stripper (1) includes an elongate shaft (8), having distal (36) and proximal (32) ends, an intima stripping ring (4, 34) mounted to the distal end of the elongate shaft and an intima cutter assembly having an intima cutting element (22, 42, 56, 60), at the stripping ring, operated by a user-operated cutting element actuator (10; 12, 50). Movement of the cutting element severs a length of intima (26), which has been separated from the wall (28) of the blood vessel (23), passing through the stripping ring.

  • Patent number: 5656029
Abstract: A steerable catheter comprising a flexible elongate tubular member having proximal and distal extremities. A handle is secured to the proximal extremity. The tubular member has a lumen extending therethrough. A mandrel is slidably mounted in the lumen and extends into the distal extremity. A pull wire extends through the tubular member for causing bending of the distal extremity with respect to the mandrel disposed therein.

  • Patent number: 5415634
Abstract: A vascular catheter includes a catheter body, an inflatable balloon disposed at the distal end of the catheter body, and an inflation conduit extending from the proximal end of the catheter body to the inflatable balloon. The inflation conduit is disposed on the exterior of the catheter body, minimizing the total cross-sectional area but imparting a non-circular periphery. Catheter whip resulting from the non-circular periphery is reduced by arranging the inflation conduit in a helical pattern over at least a distal portion of the catheter body.

  • Patent number: 5250059
Abstract: An atherectomy catheter comprises a flexible tube having a proximal end and a distal end, and a cutter housing secured to the proximal end. A spring tip nose cone is secured to a distal end of the cutter housing and comprises a relatively soft polymeric wall having a spring coil embedded therein. The spring tip nose cone has a controlled flexibility, generally being more flexible toward the distal tip. The spring coil inhibits collapse of the nose cone under the expected conditions of use, and the flexibility and non-collapsibility together assure that the nose cone can be introduced over a movable guide wire without substantial binding. Means may be provided for inhibiting loss of atheroma from the interior of the nose cone.

  • Patent number: 3942212
Abstract: The disclosed windshield wiper assembly includes a squeegee, a backing element operatively connected to the squeegee, and a superstructure which is removably connected to the backing element and adapted to be connected to a windshield wiper arm for urging the squeegee towards the windshield. The superstructure consists of an elongated primary yoke having a pair of spaced free ends; a pair of secondary yokes are respectively pivotally mounted on the free ends of the primary yoke and have pairs of opposed cooperating claws formed thereon for releasably engaging the backing element. The primary and secondary yokes each have a generally triangularly shaped transverse cross section, through substantially their entire length, defined by a pair of inclined longitudinally extending side surfaces and a substantially flat base which extends parallel to and in spaced relation from the backing element.
