  • Publication number: 20240127851
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting gunshots. The apparatus may include a device housing configured to removably couple to a light fixture; a microphone inside or mounted to the device housing; and a processor inside the device housing and electrically coupled to the microphone. The processor can be configured to receive audio data from the microphone; execute a machine learning model using the audio data as input to determine whether the audio data corresponds to a gunshot; and responsive to determining the audio data corresponds to a gunshot, transmit the audio data to a remote processor.

  • Publication number: 20240129633
Abstract: An apparatus may include a device housing; a camera; a plurality of microphones inside or mounted to the device housing; and a processor inside the device housing and electrically coupled to the plurality of microphones. The processor can be configured to receive a set of audio data from each of the plurality of microphones; execute a machine learning model using each of the sets of audio data as input to determine whether the set of audio data corresponds to an actionable sound; determine a location of the actionable sound relative to a location of the camera based on a plurality of sets of audio data determined to correspond to the actionable sound; and rotate the camera towards the determined location of the actionable sound.

  • Patent number: 8374759
Abstract: A method of controlling a vehicle powertrain having an automatic transmission coupled to an engine through a lock-up torque converter includes determining when a torque converter unlock is imminent during a deceleration fuel shut-off event, and delaying the resumption of fuel flow to the engine for a calibratable time period to reduce the likelihood of an undesirable increase in engine output torque when the torque converter has not fully transitioned to an unlocked state. The method also includes determining whether one or more breakout conditions exist that require enabling fuel flow to the engine and, perhaps, triggering an active unlocking of the lock-up torque converter.

  • Patent number: 7481738
Abstract: This invention provides a method for controlling a gear ratio in an automatic transmission of a vehicle. The method includes detecting a desired engine braking condition associated with the vehicle. Once the engine braking condition is determined, a decay factor is determined for reducing the gear ratio of the transmission. The decay factor maintains the gear ratio for a delayed period of time before gradually reducing the gear ratio over time. After determining the decay factor, the gear ratio of the transmission is controlled in accordance with the decay factor.

  • Patent number: 7303505
Abstract: A method for controlling a rate of change of speed ratios in a continuously variable transmission (CVT) includes sensing a vehicle speed, sensing an engine speed, and sensing a change in a position of an accelerator pedal. The method includes determining a desired engine speed based on the change in the position of the accelerator pedal, the vehicle speed, and the engine speed. The method includes increasing a target engine speed at a first rate to a predetermined value, wherein the target engine speed corresponds to a speed ratio. The method includes measuring a difference between the target engine speed that is held at the predetermined value and an actual engine speed, and increasing the target engine speed to the desired engine speed at a second rate when the difference substantially equals a predetermined threshold, wherein the second rate is less than the first rate.

  • Patent number: 5996786
Abstract: A recording disk storage apparatus includes a saddle shaped and sized to fit over a support object, such as a computer component. There is a case connectible to the saddle which has an interior cavity shaped and sized to receive a plurality of recording disks. Preferably the case is releasably connected to the saddle. There may be a strap extendable below the support object to retain the saddle on the support object.

  • Patent number: 4833029
Abstract: A honeycomb facesheet material, and honeycomb made therewith, wherein the facesheet includes a layer of graphite paper bonded to a layer of graphite cloth, woven from widely spaced graphite fibers. The facesheet is impregnated with an epoxy resin during manufacture, and the facesheet is bonded to an open end of the honeycomb under elevated pressure and temperature to effect curing of the epoxy resin. The graphite paper supports the layer of graphite cloth during handling to prevent misalignment of the fibers, and also effects a widely distributed bond between the fibers and the underlying honeycomb.
