  • Patent number: 5191544
Abstract: This invention relates to personal computers, and more particularly to the provision of shielding for attenuating the emission of electromagnetic radiation and the like from an enclosure for such computers. A personal computer in accordance with this invention has a chassis for mounting a planar board and having a base, a front panel, and a rear panel. The front panel defines at least one bay for receiving a data storage device. In order to attenuate the emission of electromagnetic radiation through the windows formed for the bays in the front panel of the chassis, this invention contemplates that at least one manually removable shield member will be mounted in any bay.

  • Patent number: 5180891
Abstract: A wireless stylus includes a pocket clip having a latch which, upon insertion into a storage compartment within a digitizer, engages a cam. The cam has a shape that causes the latch to move into engagement with a keeper as the stylus is pushed into the compartment and then released. The keeper holds the stylus in a stored position. The latch is released upon first pushing the stylus and then releasing it. Biasing means engages the stylus and moves it against the keeper and ejects the stylus outwardly from the storage compartment allowing the stylus to be grasped and withdrawn from the tablet. The storage compartment is open at opposite ends and has two cams, one at each end of the compartment so that the stylus, at the convenience of the user, can be inserted into either end for storage.

  • Patent number: 5136465
Abstract: This invention relates to personal computers in which provision is made for effective cooling of components capable of generating significant heat during operation, such as certain high performance microprocessors. The personal computer has an enclosure for enclosing operating components, a printed circuit board mounted within the enclosure for supporting and interconnecting operating components of the personal computer, heat generating components mounted on the printed circuit board for performing operating functions for the personal computer, a fan for inducing air to flow into the enclosure, a fan for expelling air from the enclosure, and an air flow directing baffle mounted within the enclosure in the path of air flow from one fan toward the other fan and adjacent the heat generating components for directing the flow of air through the enclosure to pass over and cool the heat generating components.
