    Abstract: An illuminating strike indicator for fishing reels provides an electrical circuit comprising a power source and a first path connected to the power source that comprises a first control switch, a first light source, and an illumination switch in series, where the illumination switch electromechanically engages with a gear provided on a spool of the reel, such that when the first control switch is in an “on” position, the electromechanical engagement between the illumination switch and the gear provided on the spool alternately closes and opens the first path.
