  • Publication number: 20020085958
Abstract: The present invention relates to a container having internal projections capable of exerting compressive, frictional, or other forces on a sample-collecting device and sample before detecting an analyte in the sample. The invention can be used whenever detecting an analyte in a sample is improved or made possible by first changing the physical or chemical properties of the sample or analyte in a pretreatment step.

  • Patent number: 4743248
Abstract: A dosage form is disclosed, which dosage form comprises an outside wall and an inside wall, which inside wall comprises means for changing its structural integrity in response to fluid having a pH greater than 5 that enters the dosage form, thereby changing the pH environment inside the dosage form and concomitantly causing the inside wall to change its structural integrity, thus causing the outside wall to collapse and be easily eliminated from a host.

  • Patent number: 4624847
Abstract: An osmotic dispensing device is disclosed for delivering a medicine to a biological environment of use. The device comprises a semipermeable wall surrounding a compartment with an osmotic passageway in the semipermeable wall connecting the outside of the device with the compartment. The compartment houses a medicine releasable carrier by a means for increasing in size for delivering the beneficial medicine from the device over time.

  • Patent number: 4612008
Abstract: An osmotic system is disclosed comprising a wall formed in at least a part of a semipermeable material that surrounds a compartment. The compartment contains a first osmotic composition comprising a beneficial agent, and a second and different osmotic composition. A passageway in the wall connects the first composition with the exterior of the system.

  • Patent number: 4455143
Abstract: An osmotic device is disclosed for delivering two beneficial drugs to an environment of use. The device comprises a semipermeable wall surrounding a lumen divided into a first compartment containing a drug that is separated from a second compartment containing a different drug. An orifice through the wall communicates with the first compartment for delivering drug from the first compartment, and another orifice through the wall communicates with the second compartment for delivering drug from the second compartment. In operation, drug is dispensed separately from each compartment by fluid being imbibed through the wall into each compartment at a rate controlled by the permeability of the wall and the osmotic pressure gradient across the wall against the drug in each compartment thereby producing in each compartment a solution containing drug that is dispensed through their orifices at a controlled and continuous rate over a prolonged period of time.
