  • Publication number: 20240130759
Abstract: A guidance system for guiding an intervention device such as a needle to a target location such as a vessel while remaining within a field of view of an imaging device such as an ultrasound. The guidance system may include an attachment mechanism for removable attachment to a specific ultrasound probe or which is adaptable to multiple different probes. A guidance mechanism may extend outwardly from the attachment mechanism for guiding the angle and depth of the intervention device. The guidance mechanism may include a plurality of openings through which the intervention device may be selectively inserted, with each opening being configured for a different angle and/or depth. Alternatively, the guidance mechanism may include a single opening that is adjustable along an arcuate path. A release mechanism may be included to allow the intervention device to be safely removed from the guidance mechanism without undue movement of the intervention device.

  • Publication number: 20240082002
Abstract: A fiber producing apparatus and method for producing fibers having at least two different dimensions or characteristics. The apparatus cuts fibers of varying length, thickness, and width by varying a cutting stroke length, using a cutting plate having different cutting blades, and applying varying pressure on a material during the cutting process. The fibers of the present invention are moldable and can be used as an implant having a structure that mimics native or natural bones. The ability to mimic natural bone improves cellular infiltration and bone growth.

  • Patent number: 11737882
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for performing an orthopedic procedure in the sacroiliac region are disclosed. In one form, an aperture is formed that at least partially extends through at least one of an ilium and a sacrum. An undercutting system is inserted into the aperture. The undercutting system may include an insertion apparatus, a probe assembly, and a cutting assembly. The probe assembly is moved with respect to the insertion apparatus from a retracted position to an extended position. The probe assembly is manipulated within a joint between the ilium and the sacrum while the probe assembly is in the extended position. The cutting assembly is moved with respect to the insertion apparatus from a retracted position to an extended position. The cutting assembly is manipulated within the joint between the ilium and the sacrum while the cutting assembly is in the extended position to form a fusion region.

  • Patent number: 11707285
Abstract: A method and apparatus for preparing a region between adjacent bones for fusion. A first aperture is formed that extends through one of the bones. An undercutting system is inserted into the first aperture. The undercutting system includes an insertion apparatus and a cutting assembly. A first path is cut between the adjacent bones by extending or retracting the cutting assembly with respect to the insertion apparatus.

  • Patent number: 9861375
Abstract: An undercutting system for preparing a region between an ilium and a sacrum for sacroiliac fusion. The undercutting system includes an insertion apparatus and a cutting assembly. The cutting assembly is operably mounted with respect to the insertion apparatus. The cutting assembly has a distal end and a proximal end. The cutting assembly includes a plurality of cutting elements and a cutting element attachment mechanism. The cutting element attachment mechanism engages the cutting elements to operably mount the cutting elements with respect to the insertion apparatus. The cutting element attachment mechanism permits the cutting elements to pivot with respect to each other.

  • Patent number: 9345488
Abstract: A method of cutting tissue between a first bone and a second bone. An aperture is formed through the first bone. The aperture has a radius. An undercutting system is provided. The undercutting system includes a cutter. The undercutting system is extended into the aperture. The cutter is moved with respect to the undercutting system to an extended configuration where at least a portion of the cutter extends from the undercutting system. The cutter is used to cut tissue between the first bone and the second bone that is beyond the radius of the aperture. The undercutting system is removed from the aperture.
