  • Patent number: 11037382
Abstract: A computer system is in wireless communication with a plurality of vehicles, each of the vehicles equipped with appropriate environmental sensors. Environmental reports are sent from the autonomous vehicles to the computer system using a V2X protocol or the like, and relate to such matters as worn line markings, obstacles on the roadway, and other conditions. The computer system is configured to evaluate the received environmental reports for accuracy. A comparison with similar environmental reports is made, and if there are few or no such reports for the location, an indication is reported to the vehicle that the vehicle's sensors may have a problem. The evaluation can be presented with a degree of confidence, taking into consideration various factors such as frequency of vehicles traversing the location, weather, time of day, etc.

  • Publication number: 20210089815
Abstract: A vehicle computer comprises a processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to detect debris flying above a roadway, to input vehicle sensor data to a first classifier that outputs a source of the debris, and based on the source of the debris, to compare sensor data representing the debris to stored reference data to determine a type of physical material included in the debris. The memory stores instruction to input the type of physical material and an environmental condition to a second classifier that outputs a risk assessment, and to actuate the vehicle based on the risk assessment.

  • Publication number: 20210068737
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments described in this disclosure are generally directed to systems and methods for reducing anxiety in an occupant of a vehicle. In one exemplary method, a computer that is provided in a vehicle receives from a source such as a server computer, information that is used to determine a behavioral profile of an occupant of the vehicle. The computer utilizes the behavioral profile to identify a behavior characteristic of the occupant. The behavior characteristic is matched by the computer to one of various behavior categories such as an amaxophobia sufferer category or a controlling personality category. The computer then executes one or more operations in the vehicle based on the behavior category to which the occupant belongs. If the occupant belongs to the amaxophobia sufferer category, the computer may, for example, play an audio track, display a video clip, and/or change a driving characteristic of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10934762
Abstract: A vehicle includes a liftgate system for preventing a garage door from closing on a liftgate when the liftgate is open. The liftgate system includes the liftgate and a processor. The liftgate includes an external-facing sensor. The processor is to, when a garage door is open, determine whether the liftgate is in a closing path of the garage door. • Patent number: 10928239
Abstract: This disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for detecting a water depth level using capacitive sensors. The systems and methods disclosed herein receive a first capacitive signal from a first capacitive sensor in a wheel well of a vehicle. The systems and methods may determine that the first capacitive signal is not below a threshold value. The systems and methods display an image in a cab of the vehicle, wherein the image corresponds to a water depth level associated with the first capacitive signal. The systems and methods receive a second capacitive signal from a second capacitive sensor corresponding to a rising water level. The systems and methods display a warning message, on a display, indicating the rising water level.

  • Publication number: 20200284608
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments described in this disclosure are generally directed to systems and methods for providing cautionary driving notifications to a driver of an automobile. The cautionary driving notifications may be generated and stored by the driver himself/herself after driving along a travel route a few times or by a different driver who has driven along the travel route a few times. The notifications, which may be provided in various ways such as by audible warnings or beeps, warn the driver of a driving hazard or a driving limitation that is coming up as the automobile is subsequently driven along the travel route. Some examples of a driving hazard can include a traffic accident or a bad road condition. Some examples of a driving limitation can include a speed limit due to a blind curve in the road or in a school zone during certain times of the day.

  • Publication number: 20200238894
Abstract: A dynamic high beam control system includes sensors, high beam headlamps including light pixels, and processors. The processors determine, via the sensors, a direction in which a person is facing. In response to determining that the person is facing the vehicle, the processors determine, via the sensors, a position of the person's face and adjust at least one of the light pixels projecting light to the person's face based on the position.

  • Publication number: 20200242376
Abstract: A parking assist system for a vehicle uses cameras to collect ground images at opposite edges of the vehicle. A speed sensor provides a speed signal representing a speed of the vehicle. When speed is less than a threshold, a navigation system compares a geographic location of the vehicle to map data or the camera images are monitored to detect parking zones. A parking controller is coupled to the cameras, a display panel, navigation system, and speed sensor. When the parking controller detects that the geographic location of the vehicle coincides with a parking zone then the parking controller 1) examines the ground images to recognize a pair of edge boundaries of a parking spot, 2) calculates a proportion of an intersection length of the vehicle contained within the boundaries to a full length of the vehicle, and 3) displays the calculated proportion as a percentage on the display panel.
