    Abstract: A cable shaving tool including a blade holder having a guide channel extending along the blade holder length. The guide channel includes a cable channel, and a control surface at opposing ends. A removable blade is secured to a blade support surface and the blade edge extends within the guide channel. The blade support and handle are disposed along a central axis. The shaving depth is determined by the differential between: the distance from the cable channel to the bottom; and the distance from the control surface to the bottom surface. The handle is secured to the blade holder and extends along the central axis, allowing an operator's hand to be positioned directly over the blade during a cut, apply a downward pressure on the cable to set the blade and then move the tool in a direction parallel to the cable length.

The rollable ribbon separator includes a blade securable to the chassis, the blade having a cutting edge positioned toward the guide surface at an acute angle to the guide surface. The angle of the blade cutting edge with respect to the guide surface allows the cutting edge to urge the first portion of the flattened ribbon fibers against the guide surface when the fibers are drawn through the chassis along the guide surface.

    Abstract: A tool for removing insulation from a cable that includes a housing, a blade, a ramp assembly, and a clearance window. The housing has a central opening. The blade has a cutting edge and is secured to the housing so that the cutting edge protrudes into the central opening. The ramp assembly has a cable support portion, a ramp base, and a biasing member. The cable support portion is pivotally connected to the ramp base, which is secured to the housing so that the ramp base protrudes into the central opening opposite the cutting edge. The clearance window is positioned with respect to the blade so that an insulation chip produced during removal of the insulation from the cable, during rotation of the housing and cable with respect to one another, travels through the clearance window. The biasing member biases the cable support portion away from the ramp base.

The hub includes at least one open position recess and open position protrusion and the actuator includes a complementary protrusion and a recess wherein the protrusion is received in the at least one open position recess of the hub and the recess of the actuator receives the at least one open position protrusion of the hub when the handle is pivoted to the open position.
