  • Patent number: 10548648
Abstract: An intramedullary bone fixation device is provided with an elongate body having a longitudinal axis and an actuator to deploy at least one gripper to engage an inner surface of the intramedullary space to anchor the fixation device to the bone. Methods of repairing a fracture of a bone are also disclosed. One such method comprises inserting a fixation device into an intramedullary space of the bone to place at least a portion of the fixation device on one side of the fracture, providing rigidity across the fracture, and operating an actuator to deploy at least one gripper to engage an inner surface of the intramedullary space to anchor the fixation device to the bone. Various configurations allow a segmented device body to lock in the intramedullary space before and/or after fixation of the bone.

  • Patent number: 8193968
Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting objects and weather in space are disclosed. A system for detecting an object in space and space weather includes at least one spacecraft, at least one radiation source, at least one detector, and a controller. The at least one radiation source and the at least one detector are coupled to the at least one spacecraft. The at least one radiation source is configured to transmit a signal. The at least one detector is configured to detect the signal. The signal may be reflected from an object in space. The controller is coupled to the spacecraft and is in communication with the plurality of detectors. The controller is programmed to calculate either a relative position of the object based or a plasma parameter in a region traversed by the signal based on the detected signal.

  • Publication number: 20070079459
Abstract: A multi base contact device is disclosed. The contact device has multiple bases providing multiple contact faces where bristles are placed for engaging a working surface. A perpendicular wall separates and extends to clean the tongue. This extension to the tongue can structure nodules squeegees arrays of nodules or squeegees and matrices but are preferably bristle structures formed from plastic resins wherein the device is configured not only to clean dentition but to clean to tongue.
