Abstract: A tampon that includes a primary absorbent member, secondary absorbent member and a withdrawal member that is visually distinct from the secondary absorbent member. The visual distinctiveness of the withdrawal member with respect to the secondary absorbent member is due to a difference in color, shade, pattern, reflectance, opacity, translucence, opalescence, fluorescence, luminescence, phosphorescence, chemiluminescence, whiteness and the mixtures thereof.

Abstract: A tampon is described that has an absorbent material positioned within a flexible overwrap. The absorbent materials can take many physical forms including particles, fibers, agglomerates, powders, gels, foams, beads and mixtures thereof. The tampon has properties that may be described by measurements of compression force, compression contact area, expulsion contact area, density, absorbency and retained absorbency.

Abstract: An improved design for tampons comprising a first material positioned within a flexible inner wrap; the inner wrap is encased by a flexible, fluid permeable outerwrap with a second material positioned between the inner and outer wrap. Either the first or second material may be absorbent or non-absorbent. The first and second materials can take many physical forms including particles, fibers, agglomerates, powders, gels, foams, beads and mixtures thereof.
