Abstract: A lid for inactivating or otherwise deterring use of a medication in a medication container is disclosed. The lid has a body that is configured to be secured to the medication container. A receptacle has a deterrent composition therein. A sharp object is movable from a first position that is spaced from the receptacle to a second position in which the sharp object punctures the receptacle. A controller is operable to: initiate a timer having a set duration; and cause the sharp object to move from the first position to the second position upon expiration of the set duration of the timer. A compression assembly applies a pressure to the receptacle so that, when the sharp object moves from the first position to the second position to puncture the receptacle, the compression assembly facilitates flow of the deterrent composition from the receptacle.

Abstract: An adaptive holder is used to provide those lacking fine hand motor control skills and limited arm and shoulder range of motion with the ability to conveniently extend and orient utensils such as forks and spoons. Used with a universal adapter cuff, the holder includes a slotted head which receives the utensil handle. A gripping portion, attached to the head, is received by the cuff. The utensil may be angularly oriented relative to the head and is secured thereto by a frictional interference fit.

The transparent body can define a circumferential surface around each aperture. A respective filter media can extend across and covers each aperture of the at least one aperture. A respective retaining element can be configured to retain the respective filter media across each aperture. The circumferential surface around each aperture can be configured to cooperate with the retaining element to retain the respective filter media between the retaining element and the circumferential surface.
