  • Patent number: 11633341
Abstract: In various embodiments a dental varnish system having improved peptide release and fluoride release properties is provided. In various embodiments a dental varnish system that provides release of an antimicrobial peptide, or specifically targeted antimicrobial peptide (STAMP), e.g., the peptide C16G2, is provided, with or without a fluoride. In various embodiments, a dental varnish system that provides release of a fluoride, with or without an antimicrobial peptide or STAMP is provided. In certain embodiments the dental varnish system comprises a first component that is a dry powder, said first component comprising a an antimicrobial peptide, with or without a fluoride, and a bulking agent, and a second component that is a fluid, said second component comprising a varnish solution, where combination of said first component with said second component provides a varnish formulation for application to the surface of a tooth.

  • Publication number: 20160207969
Abstract: In certain embodiments, constructs are provided that selectively/preferentially inhibit and/or kill Clostridium difficile. In certain embodiments the constructs comprise a peptide that binds C. difficile attached directly or through an amino acid or a linker to an antimicrobial peptide.

  • Publication number: 20160031941
Abstract: In certain embodiments, novel targeting peptides that specifically/preferentially bind to S. mutans are provided. The targeting peptides can be attached to effectors (e.g., detectable labels, drugs, antimicrobial peptides, etc.) to form chimeric constructs for specifically/preferentially delivering the effector to and/or into the target organism. In certain embodiments the targeting peptides attached, e.g., to antimicrobial peptides can be used to selectively inhibit and/or kill S. mutans and, when used in the oral cavity of a mammal, can be effective to reduce the incidence and/or severity of dental caries and/or the incidence and/or severity of periodontal disease.

  • Publication number: 20140314691
Abstract: In various embodiments compositions are provided for the whitening, and/or brightening, and/or restoration of a tooth. In various embodiments the compositions, referred to herein as “dental care” compositions typically comprise a binding moiety that binds to calcium and/or to tooth enamel and/or to pellicle attached to an active agent. The active agent is selected to deliver a particular activity (e.g., whitening, remineralization, desensitization, brightening, etc.) to the tooth.

  • Publication number: 20030026806
Abstract: The invention concerns methods of treating IL-1-mediated disease by administering a selective IL-1 binding agents that form an antagonist complex with the IL-1 ligand. The antagonist complex can bind to the IL-1 receptor without activating the receptor. The selective binding agents contemplated by this invention thus have the properties of free ligand absorption (through binding of the selective binding agent to free IL-1&agr; or &bgr;) and receptor activation inhibition (through binding of the antagonist complex to the receptor and preventing its activation).
