  • Publication number: 20190038172
Abstract: A method for correlating Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) signals from multiple users watching the same content to identify scenes of interest in such content includes filtering GSR signals from each user by subtracting consecutive GSR signal samples from each other. The user reaction portion and baseline portion of the GSR signals for the users are collectively optimized to recover non-zero user responses for the users. The locations in the content having the non-zero responses for the users are then identified as the scenes of interest in such content for the users.

  • Publication number: 20180364135
Abstract: A method to determine an operational status of one appliance includes sampling a plurality of sensors monitoring operation of a plurality of appliances. The sampling producing composite sensor measurements; the sensors not dedicated to any particular appliance. Filtering the composite sensor measurements for information for the one appliance is accomplished to remove sampled data that represents appliances other than the one appliance. A comparison of the sensor data for the one appliance with the reference information of the one appliance is determined. If an operation anomaly is present in the information for the particular appliance, a notification is transmitted to a user device concerning the operation of the one appliance.

  • Publication number: 20180177030
Abstract: A device and a method for controlling lighting conditions of a room. The room has at least one adjustable element that impacts the lighting conditions of the room. A multidirectional light sensor including a plurality of light sensors is arranged to capture the light intensity from a plurality of directions. The device obtains measurements from the multidirectional light sensor and adjusts the lighting conditions of the room. When the light in direction of the screen is higher than a first threshold, the device decreases the lighting conditions by sending a command to the adjustable element located in opposite direction to the screen. When the average value of light is lower than a second threshold, the device increases the lighting conditions by sending a command to at least one adjustable element of the room.

  • Publication number: 20180139501
Abstract: Ways to provide optimized content for sequential viewing are described. A processing server (120) may be able to retrieve source content from a storage (110). The processing server (120) may optimize the content by removing redundant and irrelevant segments. The processing server may further accelerate a playback speed associated with the optimized content. The redundancy and/or relevancy of segments may be determined based at least partly on the subject matter included in the segments, user preferences, and/or other relevant factors. The processing server (120) may receive data from multiple analytics resource and use the data to identify relevant and/or redundant segments. The processing server may provide optimized content to a content server (140) which may, in turn, provide the content to a user device (150) for playback. Alternatively, the optimized content may be generated at the user device.

  • Publication number: 20180115851
Abstract: The present principles generally relate to audio apparatus, methods, and computer program products and in particular, to improvements that adjust the sound level or levels of one or more audio outputs of an audio system based on the determined origin and/or direction of propagation of a detected human voice in a location. Such an adjustment may be to decrease, mute, or increase the sound level of an audio output producing sound in the direction of the origin of the voice. A sound level produced by other audio outputs may be unchanged.
