  • Patent number: 11583291
Abstract: An endoscopic surgical clip applier includes an endoscopic assembly and a handle assembly. The handle assembly includes a housing, a trigger, a drive bar, and a ratchet assembly. The ratchet assembly includes a first rack, a second rack, a pawl housing engageable with the first rack, and a second pawl engageable with the second rack. In a first position, the pawl housing is in registration with the first rack to prohibit reversal of a direction of movement of the trigger until the pawl housing is disposed beyond a proximal end or a distal end of the first rack. In a second position, the pawl housing is out of registration with the first rack to permit reversal of the movement of the trigger after the second pawl is disposed distally beyond a distal end of the second rack or proximally beyond a proximal end of the second rack.

  • Patent number: 11224413
Abstract: A specimen retrieval device includes outer and inner shafts. An end effector is supported on a distal end of the inner shaft and includes first and second arms that are configured to support a specimen bag. The first and second arms are movable via actuation of a handle between a proximal position wherein the first and second arms are retracted and a distal positon wherein the first and second arms are deployed and the specimen bag is positioned for receiving tissue. A release tube is disposed within a collar defined in the specimen bag and is configured to releasably engage respective first and second arms to provide stability when supporting the specimen bag and facilitate disengagement of the first and second arms from within the collar upon retraction of the first and second arms.

  • Patent number: 9968362
Abstract: A surgical clip applier is provided and includes a ratchet mechanism having a rack member connected to a drive channel such that axial translation of the drive channel results in axial translation of the rack member, the rack member defining a first set of teeth along a first side thereof and a second set of teeth along a second side thereof. The ratchet mechanism including a first pawl and a second pawl each tiltably supported in the housing and disposed on respective opposed sides of the rack member; and a buckling spring interposed between the first pawl and the second pawl and constrained in a slot formed in the rack member, wherein the buckling spring is dimensioned so as to bow in one of a proximal direction and a distal direction.

The spindle and pusher bar are each translatably supported within the shaft assembly. The barrel cam assembly includes a first portion in mechanical communication with the spindle and a second portion in mechanical communication with the pusher bar. Translation of the spindle effectuates rotation of a portion of the barrel cam assembly and the rotation of the portion of the barrel cam assembly effectuates translation of the pusher bar.

  • Patent number: 8540745
Abstract: There are disclosed various embodiments of a balloon dissector and balloon tip cannula assembly which are provided to facilitate forming an anatomical space within the body, such as, for example, an anatomical space in the abdominal cavity or extraperitoneal space for facilitating hernia repair surgeries. The balloon dissector and balloon tip cannula assembly generally includes a balloon tip cannula assembly for anchoring the device to the abdominal wall and a balloon dissector assembly having a dissection balloon at a distal end for separating apart tissue layers and forming an anatomical space. Various structures are provided to connect the balloon dissector assembly to the balloon tip cannula assembly. Obturators associated with the balloon dissector assembly and the balloon tip cannula assembly may also be provided.

  • Publication number: 20120330326
Abstract: An improved jaw blade for a surgical clip applier includes first and second legs and first and second jaws integrally connected to the first and second legs, respectively. Each of the jaws includes an inner surface having a channel oriented substantially along a longitudinal axis of the jaw. The channels each have a depth less than the width of the leg of the clip to be received therein. The jaw legs each define a longitudinal axis substantially parallel to one another and a plane therebetween. The jaw legs are movable in the plane between an open position for receiving a clip in the channels thereof, and a closed position for forming the clip received therein. When the jaw legs are in the closed position, the legs of the clip contact with one another and the inner surfaces of the jaws are spaced-apart from one another defining an atraumatic area therebetween.
