Patent number: 11943579Abstract: Systems and methods are herein described for a coaxial loudspeaker. The loudspeaker may comprise a compression driver having a first diaphragm assembly including a first magnet, and a first diaphragm coupled to a first voice coil, and a second diaphragm assembly including a second magnet and a second diaphragm coupled to a second voice coil. The compression driver may further comprise a third diaphragm assembly including a third diaphragm coupled to a third voice coil.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2022Date of Patent: March 26, 2024Assignee: HARMAN INTERNATIONAL INDUSTRIES, INCORPORATEDInventors: Alexander Voishvillo, Brian Cummins McLaughlin

Publication number: 20240077444Abstract: An analyte in a liquid sample is detected using a capacitive sensor having electrodes and a sensor surface, and a signal processor. The sample is dried to reduce its liquid content, and capacitive measurements are made after the drying and preferably also before the drying. The sample may include particles, and the analyte is part of or attached to the particles, and the particles provide a major part of the capacitance change compared to absence of particles. In another example the particles are degenerative and form an integral mass upon application of heat, enhancing the extent of capacitance change.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2023Publication date: March 7, 2024Inventors: Timothy Cummins, Brian O'Farrell

Patent number: 10993033Abstract: A speaker frame, and corresponding speaker, may have tapered spokes that form a radial triangular pattern with an apex converging near the frame's mounting flange, for example, near tabs including mounting holes where the frame attaches to a speaker baffle. The tapered spokes may include a triangular cut-out region defining a pair of converging legs that converge at the mounting flange. The width, curvature, and the angle of the spokes may allow for a thin and lightweight configuration with uniformly distributed minimal stress.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2019Date of Patent: April 27, 2021Assignee: Harman International Industries, IncorporatedInventors: Jacques Spillmann, Brian Cummins McLaughlin, Alexander Voishvillo

Publication number: 20160195552Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for determining concentrations of a target molecule and a variant thereof in a sample. The sample can comprise or be suspected to comprise a target molecule and at least one variant thereof and is exposed to one or more recognition elements that bind to the target molecule and/or the at least one variant. A signal is detected that is associated with the binding of the target molecule and/or a signal is detected that is associated with the binding of the at least one variant to the one or more recognition elements. The concentration of the target molecule and/or the at least one variant thereof is determined based on the signals. The system can comprise a receiver adapted to receive a sample comprising or suspected to comprise a target molecule and the at least one variant thereof, the receiver comprising one or more recognition elements that bind to one or more epitopes in the target molecule and/or the at least one variant thereof.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 28, 2015Publication date: July 7, 2016Inventors: Brian Cummins, Frances Smith Ligler, Glenn Walker

Patent number: 8195563Abstract: Systems and method of enabling trading in currencies are provided. A method of trading a foreign currency option on an electronic trading system according to the invention may include executing a trade of the foreign currency option between a buyer and a seller, locking the trading system with respect to the traded foreign currency option, querying the buyer whether the buyer desires to buy or sell additional volume of the option, querying the seller whether the seller desires to sell or buy additional volume of the option, and authorizing additional participants to join the trade and querying the additional participants whether each of the additional participants desires to buy or sell a volume of the option. The method may also include starting a countdown timer and displaying the timer on the graphical user interface of the buyer, the seller and the additional parties and receiving buy and sell orders from the at least one of the buyer, the seller and additional participants.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 2011Date of Patent: June 5, 2012Assignee: GFI Group, Inc.Inventors: Michel Remy Everaert, Francesco Cicero, Alexander Kiss, Brian Cummins

Patent number: 5442736Abstract: A computer system (10) comprises a processor unit (14), a keyboard (16), a screen (12) and a mouse (18). A user uses the mouse to control the position of a cursor (20) on the screen, and also to indicate a selected cursor position. To correlate this position with shapes (40, 42) on the display, to determine which if any shapes have been selected, the computer first determines whether a pick rectangle around the selected cursor position overlaps a bounding rectangle (40, 42) around a shape. Those shapes for which an overlap is found are re-drawn into a bit map in memory, which is then examined to see if this drawing process has resulted in a change to the bit map. Any shapes which produce a change in the bit map must overlap the pick rectangle, and so are correlated with the cursor position.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1993Date of Patent: August 15, 1995Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: Brian Cummins
