Patent number: 10620629Abstract: An example computing device may detect through a sensor that an aircraft started a particular phase of flight. The computing device may autonomously take independent actions on behalf of service operators to automatically allocate and assign resources to the aircraft based on availability of the resources and the flight phase of the aircraft. The computing device may thus trigger preparation of a particular service ahead of arrival of the aircraft, such that the associated service equipment is ready when the aircraft arrives at the gate.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2017Date of Patent: April 14, 2020Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Brian D. Laughlin, John W. Glatfelter

Patent number: 10519614Abstract: A system and method for controlling the movement of an extendible bridge structure has proximity sensors coupled to a distal end thereof and includes a first movement mechanism for extension and retraction thereof. A processor receives signals from the proximity sensors and, based thereon, selectively generates and provides control signals to the first movement mechanism to automatically extend the structure to a predetermined position against a vehicle positioned in a predetermined area. A flexible boot is attached to the distal end of the structure. The processor generates and provides control signals to a second movement mechanism coupled to the flexible boot to extend the flexible boot against the vehicle. The processor also monitors and identifies any changes in a positional relationship between the flexible boot and the vehicle after initial extension thereof and provides generated control signals to the first movement mechanism to restore the structure to the predetermined position.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2017Date of Patent: December 31, 2019Assignee: TEH BOEING COMPANYInventors: John W. Publication number: 20190020676Abstract: A method includes generating a user profile for an authorized user of a mobile device based on behavior patterns associated with the authorized user. The method also includes detecting subsequent user behavior of a particular user during an attempt by the particular user to access the mobile device. The method also includes comparing the subsequent user behavior to the behavior patterns of the user profile to determine whether the particular user is authorized or unauthorized. In response to determining that the particular user is an unauthorized user, the method includes detecting activity by the unauthorized user and performing a countermeasure of a plurality of countermeasures in response to detecting the activity. Each countermeasure of the plurality of countermeasures has a different security level and corresponds to a degree of the activity.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 12, 2017Publication date: January 17, 2019Inventors: Brian D. Patent number: 9645652Abstract: A system is provided that includes sensor(s) configured to provide sensed input including measurements of motion of a user during performance of a task, and in which the motion may include a gesture performed in one of a plurality of 3D zones in an environment of the user that are defined to accept respective, distinct gestures. A front-end system may receive and process the sensed input including the measurements to identify the gesture and from the gesture, identify operations of an electronic resource. The front-end system may identify the gesture based on the one of the plurality of 3D zones in which the gesture is performed. The front-end system may then form and communicate an input to cause the electronic resource to perform the operations and produce an output. And the front-end system may receive the output from the electronic resource, and communicate the output to a display device.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2013Date of Patent: May 9, 2017Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: William D. Publication number: 20030177200Abstract: A system and method are provided for publishing data on a network. A user directs a web browsing software program to a first address on the network and retrieves the data located there. Upon retrieving the data located at the first address, the browser invokes a COM object program associated with the data. The COM object has identified a second set of data located at a second address stored in association with the first address on the network. Once the second set of data is located, the COM object translates the second set of data to a format interpretable by the web browsing software program; and then displays the formatted second set of data.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2002Publication date: September 18, 2003Inventors: Brian D.
