  • Patent number: 4691977
Abstract: Connector for ribbon cable comprises a housing having therein two rows of terminals with slotted plate portions extending above cable receiving face of housing for reception in respective passages in cover latchably secured by barbs on insulation piercing arms which define slots. Each passage has ramps therein which deflect arms toward opposite sidewalls of passage until barbs snap over shoulders so that arms are coplanar. The slots do not narrow as cover is applied.

  • Patent number: 4687263
Abstract: A shielding kit for providing 360.degree. shielding of a connector terminating multi-conductor flat 360.degree. shielded cable includes a plug shield of at least two interfitting metal members which enclose the plug and secure the shielding grids of the cable and an at least one part shielding adapter which is fitted on a standard receptacle serving to ground the shielded plug when mated therein. The kit also includes a cable strain relief cover formed by a pair of hermaphroditic insulative members. The kit further includes an embodiment for use with daisy chain arrangement which is a three piece assembly to include both sides of the mating face of the cover as well as the back face of the plug. This embodiment can be used with or without the above mentioned strain relief cables. The receptacle portion of the mated plug can be enclosed by any of a variety of various shielding members.

  • Patent number: 4457576
Abstract: A one piece metal stamping forming an RF-EMI shield for an electrical connector has a central face portion and a pair of mating shell portions connected by respective bights to opposite sides of the face portion. The face portion is profiled to conform to the connector to be shielded and has an opening exposing the connector mating face. The shell portions have depending peripheral walls which overlap to enclose the rear portion of the connector and conductors extending therefrom. The subject shield is particularly suitable for electrical connectors which are overmolded with an insulative layer.

  • Patent number: 4420201
Abstract: A shielding assembly is disclosed for enclosing an electrical connector terminating fully shielded cable, with the shielding assembly terminating the shielding of the cable. The subject shielding assembly completely encloses the connector and provides a ground path for the shielding of the cable to an equipment cabinet and the like.

  • Patent number: 4410229
Abstract: An improved terminal is disclosed for securing a cover to a base of a multicontact connector while terminating flat multiconductor cable. Specifically, the improvement consists of a slotted terminal with latching ears directed normally from a plane defined by the slot defining arms of the terminal. As a result, undue flexure of the arms in relation to each other, which would cause a narrowing of the slot during mating of the cover to the base, is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4410228
Abstract: An improved spring-loaded terminal assembly is disclosed of the type in which an insulating housing has a conductor-receiving aperture extending into a cavity defined by the housing and alignable with a corresponding aperture in a terminal mounted in the cavity. Resilient means, which maintains the apertures normally out of axial alignment, must be overcome to align the apertures to permit insertion of a conductor therein. The resilient means then returns the apertures to an unaligned orientation, thereby pinching the conductor between the apertures. Specifically, the improvement consists of integrating the resilient means into the terminal.
