  • Patent number: 9652731
Abstract: A user requests a package delivery from a package delivery system. The package delivery system provides the user with a machine-readable code for display at the delivery location. An aerial delivery device receives, from the package delivery system computing device, information associated with the delivery location of the package. The information comprises information matching the information in the machine-readable code associated with the delivery location and a delivery address. The delivery device secures the package for transporting to the delivery location and transports the package to the delivery address. The delivery device locates the machine-readable code on a display at the delivery address and verifies that the information from the machine-readable code is associated with the package. The delivery device deposits the package on the display.

  • Publication number: 20170124061
Abstract: Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer readable media are configured to maintain a plurality of templates that specify presentation of types of content items in a news feed, each template of the plurality of templates having an identifier. An identifier of a template associated with a content item to be presented in the news feed is received. It is determined whether the identifier of the template associated with the content item matches an identifier of a template of the plurality of templates.

  • Patent number: 9578027
Abstract: System and methods for authenticating access to multiple data stores are disclosed. The system may include a server coupled to a network, a client device in communication with the server via the network and a plurality of data stores. The server may authenticate access to the data stores and forward information from those stores to the client device. An exemplary authentication method receives a request for access to data. Information concerning access to that data is stored and associated with an identifier assigned to a client device. If the identifier is found to correspond to the stored information during a future request for access to the store, access to that store is granted.

  • Publication number: 20160370987
Abstract: A method is performed at an electronic device that includes a display, a touch-sensitive surface, one or more processors, and memory storing one or more programs. The device displays a user interface of a software application, wherein the user interface includes a plurality of user-interface elements. A first gesture is detected on the touch-sensitive surface while displaying the first user interface, and an initial direction of movement is determined for the first gesture. The device recognizes that the initial direction corresponds to one of a first predefined direction on the touch-sensitive surface or a second predefined direction on the touch-sensitive surface, wherein the first predefined direction is distinct from the second predefined direction. Display of one or more user-interface elements of the plurality of user-interface elements is manipulated in accordance with the corresponding one of the first or second predefined direction.

  • Publication number: 20160357352
Abstract: A first story is displayed at a client device. The first story includes a second story and an indication of a previous user interaction with the second story that resulted in creation of the first story. First and second user-feedback interfaces corresponding to the first story and second story, respectively, are concurrently displayed. The first and second user-feedback interfaces include affordances for providing user feedback regarding their respective stories. User feedback is received for the first story through the first user-feedback interface or for the second story through the second user-feedback interface. When the user feedback is received through the first user-feedback interface, notification is sent to a server to associate the user feedback with the first story, and when the user feedback is received through the second user-feedback interface, notification is sent to the server to associate the user feedback with the second story.

  • Publication number: 20160328125
Abstract: An item of content includes an embedded content item and one or more portions distinct from the embedded content item. An electronic device simultaneously displays the embedded content item and a first portion of the item of content distinct from the embedded content item in a display area having a display height and a display width. The embedded content item is displayed at a first resolution at which its entire width is contained within the display width of the display area. In response to a first user input indicating selection of the embedded content item, display of the first portion of the item of content ceases, and a first portion of the embedded content item is displayed at a second resolution that is greater than the first resolution, wherein a height of the first portion of the embedded content item at the second resolution equals the display height.

  • Publication number: 20160313908
Abstract: In an electronic device, a cover page of a first content item is displayed and a first swipe gesture in a first direction is detected. In response to detecting the first swipe gesture, the electronic device transitions from displaying the cover page to displaying the first content item. During the transition, a portion of the cover page and a portion of the first content item are simultaneously displayed. After the transitioning, the first content item is displayed, and a second swipe gesture is detected in a second direction substantially opposite to the first direction. In response to detecting the second swipe gesture, the electronic device transitions from displaying the first content item to displaying the cover page, during which the portion of the first content item and the portion of the cover page are simultaneously displayed.

  • Patent number: 9476133
Abstract: A portable hydrogen and oxygen supply system produces gaseous hydrogen and gaseous oxygen from water. It separates the gasses and vents them into two separate chambers. The supply system creates water disassociation through an array of concentric hexagonal hydrogen collector tubes, anode rods and a cathode matrix, all of which are submersed in water. The anode rods and cathode matrix are supplied DC electrical current. The water separates (disassociates) as atomic hydrogen is drawn to the negatively charged anode rods and the atomic oxygen is drawn to the positively charged cathode matrix. The hydrogen, on its path to the anode, passes through the walls of the hydrogen collector tubes to be collected in the first chamber. The oxygen is unable to pass through the walls of the tubes, and remains outside the tubes to be collected in the second chamber.

  • Patent number: 9448231
Abstract: Embodiments of a system, method, and kit for visualizing a nucleus are disclosed. A tissue sample is pretreated with a protease to permeabilize the nucleus, and then incubated with a nanoparticle/DNA-binding moiety conjugate. The DNA-binding moiety includes at least one DNA-binding molecule. The conjugate binds to DNA within the nucleus, and the nanoparticle is visualized, thereby visualizing the nucleus. Computer and image analysis techniques are used to evaluate nuclear features such as chromosomal distribution, ploidy, shape, size, texture features, and/or contextual features. The method may be used in combination with other multiplexed tests on the tissue sample, including fluorescence in situ hybridization. Kits for performing the method include a protease enzyme composition, a nanoparticle/DNA-binding moiety conjugate, and a reaction buffer.

  • Patent number: 9444812
Abstract: A method for authenticating a user to provide a service is provided. The method includes storing information associated with a user of a first device on a server. The stored information includes a phone number associated with a second device of the user and is stored during an event. Additional information is needed to authenticate the first device to provide a service. The method includes querying the user for additional information to authenticate the first device to provide the service and querying the user to verify the phone number provided during the event before sending one or more communications associated with providing the service to the first device. • Patent number: 9430142
Abstract: An electronic device includes a display, a touch-sensitive surface, one or more processors, and memory storing one or more programs. The device displays a first user interface of a hierarchy of user interfaces of a software application associated with first and second pan gesture recognizers. The first pan gesture recognizer is configured to recognize a pan gesture that has an initial direction along a first axis and/or a first direction. The second pan gesture recognizer is configured to recognize a pan gesture that has an initial direction along a second axis and/or a second direction distinct from the first direction. The device detects a first pan gesture in an initial direction across the touch-sensitive surface while displaying the first user interface. The device identifies a pan gesture recognizer configured to recognize the first pan gesture, and processes the first pan gesture using the identified pan gesture recognizer.

  • Patent number: 9429712
Abstract: An optical switch is configured in a “dual-ganged” switch geometry to provide for the simultaneous switching of a selected transmit/receive pair of optical signal paths between a specific optical communication device and an optical communication network. A biaxially-symmetric signal redirection component may be used to direct the signals between the selected channel and the optical communication device. A specific waveguide (e.g., fiber) array topology within the dual-ganged switch (DGS) breaks the symmetry between the network transmit/receive arrays and a pair of transmit and receive signal paths associated with the communication device to improve isolation and minimize the possibility of cross-talk between non-selected waveguides in the transmit and receive arrays. The possibility of “hits” during switching between channels can be eliminated, and is controlled by dictating the process or switching steps used to rotate the biaxially-symmetric signal redirection element.
