Patent number: 7865839Abstract: One implementation provides monitoring a user's activity within a first window that is visible to the user in a graphical user interface (GUI), receiving notification of an incoming message intended for the user, and, upon receipt, opening a second window that is visible to the user in the GUI, the second window being distinct from any other window currently open in the GUI. When a predetermined condition is satisfied based upon the user's activity being monitored in the first window, the implementation further provides deactivating the first window in the GUI and activating the second window to provide the user with notification of the incoming message.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2004Date of Patent: January 4, 2011Assignee: AOL Inc.Inventors: Brian Dean Heikes, James A. Publication number: 20100320975Abstract: A controller includes a hysteretic circuit that provides a first ON level pulse when a corresponding first negative regulated voltage rises above a respective first voltage threshold. Similarly, a second ON level pulse is provided when a corresponding second positive regulated voltage falls below a respective second voltage threshold. The hysteretic circuit provides an OFF level pulse when one of first and second switch currents increases above a current threshold. A switch control circuit receives the first and second ON level pulses and the OFF level pulse, and provides first and second switch control outputs to separately regulate the first and second regulated voltages.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 22, 2009Publication date: December 23, 2010Applicant: Seagate Technology LLCInventors: Brian Dean Boling, Tuan Van Tran, Michael Ernest Dickeson, David Michael Freson

Publication number: 20100239246Abstract: Consistent with the present disclosure, a transmitter is provided that includes first and second stages of wavelength locking circuitry. The first stage includes a tunable optical filter that sweeps through the spectrum of a WDM signal at a predetermined rate. A first photodiode senses a tapped portion of the output of the tunable filter. The remaining light is fed to the second stage, which includes a second optical filter, typically having a fixed transmission characteristic. A second photodiode senses the light that passes through the second filter. By sweeping the WDM spectrum the tunable filter can be used to identify the peaks in the WDM spectrum, with each peak corresponding to an optical signal wavelength and occurring at a particular time interval during the sweep.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 23, 2009Publication date: September 23, 2010Inventors: BRIAN DEAN TAYLOR, Alan C. Publication number: 20100097519Abstract: In one aspect, the invention is directed to a camera for mounting on a vehicle, wherein the camera housing made up of two housing members, with a conductive coating on the interior of each of the housing members. The two housing members mate together using an interference fit, to provide a greater assurance that they are electrically connected to each other. One of the housing members is connected to ground. In another aspect, the invention provides a camera module that has a housing and a wire harness or wire or lead that is electrically connected to circuitry of the camera and that extends through the camera housing for electrical connection to a vehicle wire harness or the like. The wire or lead extends through a portion of the housing with the housing disposed at the wire prior to connection of the wire to the circuitry of the camera. The electrical connection of the wire to the camera circuitry is made as the housing is assembled.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 16, 2009Publication date: April 22, 2010Inventors: Steven V. Publication number: 20090308197Abstract: It's a highly compact actuator with multiple outputs able to transfer force to those outputs in nearly any combination. The underlying technology, which I call a “differentiated clutch”, may have other applications as well. As such, those skilled in the art will appreciate that the conception, upon which this disclosure is based, may readily be utilized as a basis for the designing of other structures, methods and systems for carrying out the several purposes of the present invention. It is important, therefore, that any claims be regarded as including such equivalent constructions insofar as they do not depart from the spirit and. scope of the present invention.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 10, 2009Publication date: December 17, 2009Inventor: Brian Dean Saunders

Publication number: 20090058330Abstract: Motor control circuitry reduces the amount of driving voltage profile data stored in a profile datastore to completely rotate the phased motor. The stored driving voltage profile data defines driving voltages samples applied during a limited portion of the electrical period required to completely rotate the phased motor. For example, in one implementation, only one-sixth of the electrical period is defined and stored in a profile datastore. The driving voltage samples for another three-sixths of the electrical period are derived from this one-sixth profile (e.g., reversing, inverted, reversed and inverted), and the driving voltage samples for another two-sixths of the electrical period are based on saturated levels at the power supply voltage and a neutral voltage (e.g., ground). The described motor control circuitry can also provide improved torque at low power supply levels, particularly when saturated portions of the driving voltage profile exceed sixty degrees.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2007Publication date: March 5, 2009Applicant: SEAGATE TECHNOLOGY LLCInventors: Brian Dean Boling, Michael Ernest Dickeson
