  • Patent number: 12228075
Abstract: Example systems and methods for integrating an air-cooled oil cooler into an inlet frame of an engine are provided. An example gas turbine engine comprises an inlet frame including an inlet plenum at a first end of an inlet frame flow path, the inlet frame defining an airflow entrance to a compressor; the compressor to provide an airflow through the inlet frame; a pump to circulate a fluid; a plurality of struts supporting the inlet frame flow path; and a fluid core connected to the pump and built at least partially into the inlet frame of the gas turbine engine, the fluid core to route the fluid through the inlet plenum.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 14, 2023
Date of Patent: February 18, 2025
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Robert B. Brown, Brian Devendorf, Stephen G. Matava, Emma Lebwohl, Michael T. Hogan, Susan Frances Redus

  • Patent number: 11994071
Abstract: A fuel system including a fuel metering unit, a heat exchanger, a plurality of fuel nozzles, and a coke filtration system. The fuel metering unit is configured to meter a flow of a hydrocarbon fuel. The heat exchanger is fluidly connected to the fuel metering unit. The heat exchanger is configured to heat the hydrocarbon fuel to improve engine performance or efficiency. The plurality of fuel nozzles is fluidly connected to the heat exchanger downstream of the heat exchanger to receive the hydrocarbon fuel heated by the heat exchanger. The coke filtration system includes at least one filter to remove coke particles in the heated fuel. The coke filtration system is located upstream of the plurality of fuel nozzles and directly downstream of the heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 11668237
Abstract: A particle separator system for a turbine engine having an engine inlet. The particle separator system includes an inlet particle separator located within the engine inlet and configured to remove particles from an incoming airflow. The particle separator system also includes a barrier filter located within an enclosure of the turbine engine downstream of the inlet particle separator, the barrier filter being configured to intercept particles not scavenged by the inlet particle separator.
