  • Patent number: 11935134
Abstract: Consumer needs for life insurance benefits change over time, yet traditional individual insurance policies have a fixed death benefit. Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to a user interface that facilitates forecasting future benefits and premiums under user-defined assumptions to optimize the policy application process and coverage, and to system and method for administering life insurance policies with death benefits that are automatically, periodically adjusted, without requiring new underwriting, based on third-party data linked to the insured's specific life insurance need. Embodiments disclosed herein facilitate the alignment of life insurance benefits with an individual's need as those needs change over time regardless of their changing health status, ensuring coverage when the need increases while saving money on unnecessary premiums when the need is declining.

  • Patent number: 10383201
Abstract: Techniques are described for providing a smart-mesh socket. The smart-mesh socket may be sized and shaped to be engaged with a conventional electrical socket of one or more types (e.g., a USB receptacle providing DC electrical power) to provide power to one or more circuits housed within the smart-mesh socket. These circuits may include, for example, a main circuit that includes at least a dual processor for controlling the operation and communications of at least two communication circuits. The dual processors may execute instructions for an operating system, thus allowing the smart-mesh socket to provide enhanced capabilities for networked devices. One or more first communication circuits may each include one or more transceivers that allow the first communication circuit to send and receive communications with other devices over wireless network(s) using one or multiple wireless communication protocols.

  • Patent number: 8832045
Abstract: Provided are systems and methods for use in data archiving. In one arrangement, compression techniques are provided wherein an earlier version of a data set (e.g., file folder, etc) is utilized as a dictionary of a compression engine to compress a subsequent version of the data set. This compression identifies changes between data sets and allows for storing these differences without duplicating many common portions of the data sets. For a given version of a data set, new information is stored along with metadata used to reconstruct the version from each individual segment saved at different points in time. In this regard, the earlier data set and one or more references to stored segments of a subsequent data set may be utilized to reconstruct the subsequent data set.

  • Publication number: 20090132616
Abstract: The inventive systems/techniques described herein provide solutions to managing information that may be integrated with many existing back-up applications. The techniques use existing resources, and provide transparent access to additional data processing functionalities. In one arrangement, a data de-duplication technique is provided. The technique includes monitoring a computer system to identify an intended transfer of a data set to an electronic storage medium. Once an intended transfer is identified, the data set is processed (e.g., prior to transfer). Such processing includes identifying a portion of the data set that corresponds to previously stored data and replace that portion of the data set with a link to the previously stored data. Such replacement of data portions within the first data set with links to previously stored data defines a modified data set. The modified data set may be transferred to the electronic storage medium associated with, for example, a back-up application/system.

  • Publication number: 20080199395
Abstract: The invention relates to a reversible hydrogen storage composition comprising lithium hydride which desorbs hydrogen when heated in a hydrogen environment to a temperature of 470° C. or more to form a hydrogenated state, and absorbs hydrogen when cooled to 420° C. or less, the temperatures of absorption and desorption being independent of the pressure of the hydrogen environment. A partially processed blend of powdered lithium hydride and catalytic amounts of other elements such as Fe, B, Ni, Co or C, added as micron or sub-micron sized powders and still present in the blend as a pure phase, can provide improved hydrogen storage.

  • Patent number: 6170723
Abstract: A double opening lid for use in a truck storage box. A first lid opens along a longitudinal dimension of a truck storage box to give full access to the entire interior of the truck storage box. Additionally, two side lids mount along a line perpendicular to the longitudinal dimension of the truck storage box lid open upwardly and inwardly for easy access from the side of the truck in which the truck storage box is mounted. The two side lids will ordinarily be mounted somewhat above the plane of the first lid to provide for run off of rain or other materials. Ordinarily, a frame is employed to provide better rigidity and durability for the lid. Thus, the double opening lid opens longitudinally to give access to the entire truck storage box, and conveniently opens from either side to give easy access from the side of the truck on which the truck storage box equipped with this double opening lid is mounted.
