  • Publication number: 20160055299
Abstract: A graphical user interface is used to design hospital patient request response protocols—wherein information and messages are provided on patient and provider devices responsive to patient and provider inputs to those devices. A protocol designer interacting with the graphical user interface is enabled to bring into a protocol design space tiles representing steps of a hospital patient request response protocol under design. Ones of the tiles represent tools, such as “Assign Owner,” and “Timer” tools. Others represent respective computer systems external to the system on which the protocol itself will execute, such as staff management systems and/or electronic medical record systems. The protocol designer is also enabled to bring into the protocol design space connections that define an order for performing the various steps. The protocol is executed by a workflow engine, the protocol being initiated in response to a request entered on a patient device.
