  • Patent number: 7941797
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for providing a native code library from a server to an application written in an interpreted programming language for execution on a remote computer. An installer object is invoked from within a main class of the interpreted programming language application. The install object extracts a file list from the server including at least one native code library filename indicating a native code library. The native code library indicated by the native code library filename is installed to a target directory on the remote computer and the main class of the interpreted programming language application is then invoked on the remote computer. Additional native code library dependencies are also installed to the target directory on the remote computer.

  • Publication number: 20100306252
Abstract: A mechanism for providing efficient use of peer cache space in large scale file distributions. A peer computer receives a download plan for a requested file. The download plan specifies a number of peer servers where the file is stored, a minimum number of peer servers required to store the file, and a saturation level for the file in the zone. When the peer computer downloads the file from one or more peer servers listed in the download plan, the peer computer determines whether the file is required to be cached at the peer computer by comparing the minimum number of peer servers in the plan required to store the file against the number of peer servers listed in the plan. If the minimum number required to store the file is greater the number of peer servers listed in the plan, the peer computer caches the file.

  • Publication number: 20080002593
Abstract: A method, system, and computer-usable medium for dropping slow connections during a multi-connection download. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a download manager establishes a predetermined number of connections between a client and a predetermined number of servers. The download manager sets a minimum threshold data transfer rate for the client for a particular connection and drops a first connection that is transferring data at a rate below the minimum threshold if an overall transfer rate of a download after dropping the first connection is greater than the predetermined number of connections times the minimum threshold data transfer rate.
