  • Patent number: 6702307
Abstract: A wheel suspension system for motor vehicles has a horizontally positioned spring-and-damper unit which, by way of levers and links, interacts with wheel carriers of opposite wheels. In order to design the wheel suspension system in a favorable manner with respect to space requirements while ensuring proper functioning of its components, a horizontally positioned spring-and-damper unit and a lever, which can be swivelled about an axis which is upright or relatively slightly inclined, are provided for each side of the wheel. The lever is applied by way of a first lever section to the spring-and-damper unit and is connected, by way of a second lever section as well as a first link to one of the wheel carriers. The lever is connected to a stabilizer by way of a third lever section as well as a second link.
    Type: Grant
