  • Patent number: 7734079
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for producing an image of an object with a multi-slice imaging apparatus having a row of detectors are provided. The method includes generating a first partial image using projection data acquired at a first imaging position in a step-and-shoot imaging mode, generating a second partial image using projection data acquired at a second imaging position, and combining the partial images to form a final image.

  • Patent number: 7254259
Abstract: A method includes calculating a sum of all samples at each projection view of a scan of an object, determining a maximum value of the calculated sums, averaging a plurality of samples m at a projection view index k when the sum of all samples at index k is less than a predetermined percentage of the maximum value, comparing the average to a threshold t, determining the projection truncated when the average is greater than t, and determining the projection not truncated when the average is not greater than t.

  • Publication number: 20060177002
Abstract: Methods, apparatus and systems for controlling x-ray exposure during a scan with a computed tomography system are provided. The system includes an x-ray source, a collimator, and a detector array. The collimator includes a first cam configured to shutter an x-ray fan beam, generated by the x-ray source, in a first direction, a second cam located on an opposite side of a focal point of the x-ray source from the first cam, the second cam configured to shutter the x-ray fan beam in a second direction, the second direction being opposite from the first direction, and a cam drive configured to position at least one of the first cam and the second cam during the scan.

  • Publication number: 20050100124
Abstract: Some configurations of the present invention provide a method for reconstructing an image of an object of a computed tomographic imaging system having a detector array and a radiation source, wherein an arc of the detector array is not concentric to a focal spot of the radiation source. The method includes scanning the object with the computed tomographic imaging system to obtain a fan beam dataset, rebinning the fan beam dataset into a set of parallel datasets; and reconstructing an image utilizing the set of parallel datasets.

  • Patent number: 6856666
Abstract: A method includes scanning an object in a first modality having a first field of view to obtain first modality data including fully sampled field of view data and partially sampled field of view data. The method also includes scanning the object in a second modality having a second field of view larger than the first field of view of obtain second modality data, and reconstructing an image of the object using the second modality data and the first modality partially sampled field of view data.

  • Patent number: 6490335
Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing image reconstruction using data obtained by an N beam helical scan, the method including generating projection data arrays for each of the N rows in a CT detector, weighting the data arrays using a unique weighting function that including different weighting functions for a first detector row, a last detector row and the middle detector rows between the first and last detector rows thereby generating helical weighted arrays for each row, applying a half scan weight to each helical weighted array and using the half scan weighted arrays to generate a slice image.
