  • Publication number: 20090054955
Abstract: Systems and methods for treating neurological disorders by light stimulation are disclosed herein. A brain neuroillumination system includes an implantable housing; a control unit carried by the implantable housing; a neuroillumination delivery device including at least one light emission site; at least one light source operatively coupled to the control unit and optically coupled to the at least one light emission site; and a near infrared spectroscopy unit coupled to the control unit, wherein the near infrared spectroscopy unit is configures to detect an optical signal corresponding to at least one from the group of a cytochrome oxidase state and a hemoglobin oxygenation state.

  • Publication number: 20030120324
Abstract: A system and method allows a physician to remotely change the settings of a medical device that is implanted in a patient who is physically separated from the patient. The physician uses a computer to remotely access the patient's computer and programs new settings for the medical device that is conveyed to an emulator which in turn conveys the settings to the medical device. Patients who have neurostimulators implanted in them are particularly suited to receive the benefits of the present invention.
