  • Patent number: 5833437
Abstract: Pumps, for example, bilge pumps, comprise a pump housing including an inlet and an outlet, a motor and an impeller assembly coupled to the motor for pumping liquid which passes through the outlet. The motor is advantageously cooled by pumped liquid while being protected from the pumped liquid. Further, the motor is turned on and off in response to actual operating conditions, thereby increasing pump life and reducing overall power consumption. The pump provides contoured facing surfaces which provide a dynamically efficient flow path for the pumped liquid. In addition, a switch housing is preferably provided to allow liquid to contact an activator assembly which turns the motor on.

  • Patent number: 5800136
Abstract: A pump includes a housing having at least a first pumping chamber, an inlet, an inlet passage leading from the inlet to the pumping chamber, an outlet and an outlet passage leading from the pumping chamber to the outlet. A first pumping member is movable in the pumping chamber on an intake stroke whereby fluid from the inlet passage is drawn into the pumping chamber and on a discharge stroke whereby fluid in the pumping chamber is discharged into the outlet passage. A drive is provided for moving the pumping member on the intake and discharge strokes. A bypass passage leads from a location in the outlet passage to a location in the inlet passage. A bypass valve is provided and is movable in response to the pressure from the outlet passage and substantially independent of the pressure from the inlet passage between an open position in which fluid flows through the bypass passage and a closed position in which fluid is prevented from flowing through the bypass passage.

  • Patent number: 5622484
Abstract: New valves to allow or prevent material flow through a conduit are disclosed. Such valves comprise a valve seat having a longitudinal axis, defining a through opening and including a seating surface which defines a portion of the through opening. A valve body, operatively coupled to the valve seat, is located at least partially in the through opening. A valve element is secured to and movable relative to the valve body. The valve element includes a sealing surface which is curved in at least one plane parallel to and including the longitudinal axis of the valve seat and is adapted to contact the seating surface to prevent material flow through the through opening. Pump assemblies and condiment dispensing systems employing such valves are also disclosed.
