  • Publication number: 20240101478
Abstract: A 100% solids composition and method for priming or sealing a concrete surface wherein the 100% solids composition is formed of a tree rosin ester resin and a vegetable oil or vegetable oil-derived plasticizer, which are renewable or largely renewable, and wherein the 100% solids composition provides strong adhesion, can be applied by brushing or spraying at a temperature of less than 400° F. without adding a solvent or water thereto, produces substantially no VOCs, requires no time for curing or evaporation, and is ready for traffic or other normal use after cooling.

  • Publication number: 20230416531
Abstract: A pigmentable non-asphaltic composition for use as a sealant for cracks and joints in pavement surfaces, and for other purposes, and a method of forming the composition wherein (a) the composition comprises a non-asphaltic base blend which uses one or more tree rosin esters and (b) the low temperature properties of the composition, such as ductility and flexural creep stiffness, are enhanced by incorporating distilled tall oil and/or other low temperature property enhancing additives.

  • Publication number: 20230383477
Abstract: A method, structure, and composition for repairing wide and/or deep cracks, joints, and other gaps in pavement surfaces using one or a series of layers of a compressible aggregate of uniform size, with each layer of the compressible aggregate having a binder applied thereto which flows downwardly into and binds all or an upper portion of the compressible aggregate.

  • Publication number: 20230287215
Abstract: A non-asphaltic sealant composition, and methods of producing and using the sealant composition, wherein the non-asphaltic sealant composition includes a sufficient amount of one or more polar, non-asphaltic base resins having functional groups for hydrogen bonding to provide high adhesion for sealing cracks and joints in polar concrete pavements and other polar substrates.

  • Publication number: 20230265321
Abstract: Hot-applied asphaltic and non-asphaltic sealant compositions and methods having or using defined effective polymer concentration (EPC) values of at least 7.0 are provided which (a) provide improved softening points and improved resilience without the use of any inorganic filler materials, while at the same time maintaining or increasing the ductilities of the compositions, or (b) enable the use of one or more inorganic filler materials to provide improved softening points and improved resilience while maintaining desirable viscosity levels and at least significantly limiting any losses in ductility or increasing the ductilities of the compositions.

  • Publication number: 20230143069
Abstract: A fully pigmentable, non-asphalt based, sealant composition for sealing cracks and joints in roads, streets, highways, sidewalks, pavements, and other concrete and asphalt surfaces. The pigmentable sealant is produced by (i) forming a non-asphalt base blend which contains a high concentration of a rosin ester material, (ii) neutralizing the color of the base blend using one or more color neutralizing materials, (iii) pigmenting the color-neutralized base blend to a desired final color, and (iv) adding one or more polymers to the pigmented blend to provide enhanced mechanical properties.
