Abstract: A cosmetic water-in-oil composition is provided which includes a water-in-oil emulsifying silicone surfactant, organic sunscreen agent and conjugated linoleic acid. The conjugated linoleic acid functions to moderate shine on facial surfaces to which the organic sunscreen agent formulated composition is topically applied.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition is provided which includes a high level of glycerin, a chemically modified starch which is preferably a hydroxypropyl di-starch phosphate or an acetylated di-starch adipate, and a crystalline gel structurant comprising a surfactant and co-surfactant, the structurant having an enthalpy ranging from about 2 to about 15 Joule per gram. The composition has a silky sensory feel and exhibits a positive normal force, preferably ranging from about +0.5 to about +5 grams. The glycerin to chemically modified starch is present in a weight ratio ranging from about 100:1 to about 2:1. Advantageously, the composition has a SkiCon Value ranging from about 10 to about 80.

Abstract: A new moisturizing agent for personal care compositions is provided which is a mono-hydroxy substituted amine salt of a polymer with acid pendant groups. Particularly preferred are dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) salts of the polymer.

Abstract: A solid cosmetic composition is described including a water dissolvable solid carrier incorporating at least one cosmetic agent. The solid carrier is a destructurized starch material. Fragrance is applied topically onto the solid carrier. The compositions are best formed into tablets, pellets, beads or sheet articles. Particularly preferred is where the solid cosmetic composition and carrier are foamed.

The inventive vehicle is substituted to the extent that an insufficient amount of performance agents are selected by the consumer to obtain optimum, final product, component concentrations.

Abstract: A cosmetic powder is provided which includes a crosslinked non-emulsifying siloxane elastomer, a powdered inorganic material and a skin treatment agent. Inclusion of the elastomer allows for the coupling of water as well as water soluble salts into the cosmetic powder.

Abstract: A sunscreen cosmetic composition is provided which is a water and emollient oil emulsion containing an inorganic sunscreen agent such as titanium dioxide with a relatively large particle size ranging from about 0.1 to 20 micron and an organic sunscreen agent. High levels of sunscreen activity are achievable without any significant adverse effect on emulsion aesthetics.

Abstract: A underarm treatment composition is provided including a deodorant and/or antiperspirant active, a crosslinked non-emulsifying siloxane elastomer and a volatile siloxane. The compositions were found not to undergo syneresis. They also have improved efficacy, faster absorption, anti-whitening and other properties.

Abstract: A process is provided for preparing a silicone elastomer composition for cosmetic products which includes the steps of feeding the silicone elastomer composition comprising a silicone rubber in a carrier fluid into a reactor, mixing the composition in the reactor, delivering the composition from the reactor into a high pressure pump, pumping the fluid into a device for reducing particles of rubber into smaller sizes and recirculating the resultant size reduced particles back to the reactor. The device for reducing particle size is preferably a high pressure fed homogenizer, most advantageously a sonolator.

Abstract: A skin treatment composition is provided which includes a crosslinked non-emulsifying siloxane elastomer, a skin conditioning agent, a volatile siloxane and no more than 5% water. Hydrocarbons such as petrolatum and polyols such as glycerin are the preferred skin conditioning agents. Inclusion of the elastomer provides a non-traditional smooth/silky feel to the skin upon application with a non-draggy rub in.

Abstract: A skin treatment composition is provided which includes a crosslinked non-emulsifying siloxane elastomer, a volatile siloxane and at least 50% by weight of water. Inclusion of the elastomer provides a unique liquid/powdery feel when rubbed into the skin.
