    Abstract: A system for lung assist includes a fiber bundle section including a fiber bundle housing defining a fiber bundle compartment therein, and a fiber bundle within the fiber bundle compartment. The fiber bundle housing includes a first interface on a second end of the fiber bundle housing opposite a first end thereof. The system further includes a base section having a housing including a pressurizing section including a pressurizing compartment and an interface section. The interface section includes an extending section which extends from a lateral end of the pressurizing section. The interface section includes a second interface formed on the extending section, which includes a releasable seal member configured to form a releasable sealing connection with the first interface of the fiber bundle section. The base section housing and the fiber bundle housing are separate elements connected by a releasable, sealing connection between the first and second interfaces.

    Abstract: A system and method facilitates transfers of specimen containers (e.g., vials with caps) between storage cassettes and carrier cassettes. The storage cassettes are designed to be stored in cryogenic refrigerators while the carrier cassettes are designed to be temporarily stored in a portable carrier. A workstation includes a well and removable buckets positioned in the well. The buckets are sized to hold the storage cassettes and carrier cassettes. One or more arrays of antennas underlie the well to allow interrogation of wireless transponders carried by the specimen containers. Improved storage cassettes and carrier cassettes are also described.

    Abstract: A baking pan oiling device includes a housing for receiving a plurality of baking pans therethrough during a pan oiling operation, an oil supply fluidly coupled to a plurality of nozzles, and a pump for causing the nozzles to spray oil into at least one orifice of each of the baking pans. A sensor arranged downstream of the nozzles generates signals corresponding to a sensed presence or absence of oil in the baking pan, and a control unit determines the pan oiling device requires attention based on such signals, including causing the pan oiling operation to be stopped, transmitting a message, and/or causing an indicator to be actuated. The sensor may additionally sense pan type and/or color, oil spray pattern on the pan, spray amount on the pan, and so on, and in response, the control unit may generate control signals to facilitate operations of the pan oiling device.
