  • Patent number: 9381332
Abstract: A nasal dilator is provided that can be used primarily for exercise and secondarily rest and sleep. It may be designed as a resilient bridge between two arms that enter the nostril and then expand the nostril outward and upward. In one embodiment the dilator is flexible and the feet are brought together when inserted into the nose and when released they try to return outward and press against the nasal wall thus opening the nostrils. The feet may have an offset from the arm to deeper engage the nostril which helps to prevent the dilator from slipping off. Also the inside face of the feet and arm that run parallel to the septum wall may be generally flat to prevent irritation to the septum wall if pressed up against the septum wall. The easy to use and reusable nasal dilator can be used by athletes to better their performance through the improved utilization and flow of air through the nose.

  • Patent number: 7683245
Abstract: A pick for strumming stringed musical instruments is provided, wherein some embodiments the strumming pick are fabricated from a compliant material. In other embodiments of the present invention, an ergonomically contoured depression is formed into the front side of the pick and means corresponding ergonomically contoured protrusion is formed upon the backside of the pick. Yet other embodiments combine the foregoing compliant aspect and the ergonomic aspects.

  • Publication number: 20080168890
Abstract: A drumstick incorporates a ring or band of elastomer or plastic material that fits into a corresponding groove on the drumstick. The band prevents the loss of energy in the stick to vibration and allow the user to get a more powerful and solid impact on the drumhead. The groove is ideally placed near the butt end of the drumstick. The band may also employ small ribs traversing the inside of the band so that the ribs creates a secure contact area providing a tight fit but allowing the rest of the band to move more freely helping in the dampening effect of the band. This may also be accomplished with a multitude of finger like protrusions on the inside of the band. The ribs or fingers may be ideally angled to allow a flexing that keeps a constant but not rigid contact with the stick.

  • Patent number: 7314139
Abstract: The present invention relates to a gravity/flotation circuit where a mineral stream, such as a flotation rougher or cleaner concentrate, undergoes a two stage size separation wherein: i) the screen of the first stage provides a coarse stream of particles greater than 110 microns and a fines stream of particles less than 110 microns; and ii) the fines stream of less than 110 microns is subjected to the second stage separation whereupon a cyclone provides an ultrafine/slimes stream of p80 less than about 25 microns and a middlings stream of p80 greater than around 25 microns. The middlings stream is subjected to flotation to recover nickel sulphide which is sent to final concentrate, and reject or depress magnesia which undergoes gravity separation to concentrate the MgO. It has been discovered that a large proportion of the MgO minerals in the concentrate are contained in the 30 to 100 micron size fraction and that they are well liberated making physical separation possible.

  • Publication number: 20060156902
Abstract: A resilient washer design having an annulus body and a concentric sleeve extending from the annulus with a plurality of ribs extending from the sleeve. The washer may have an opposing sleeve extending from the opposite side of the annulus with a second plurality of ribs in staggered location to the first set of ribs. This staggered position allows the annulus to flex between the ribs on opposing sides and resist compression of the washer when pressure is applied axially.

  • Publication number: 20060156895
Abstract: A flexible guitar pick is provided, wherein there is a cutout section that traverses the center of the pick to create a hinge point at each side of the pick allowing the pick to have extreme flexibility when strumming. Furthermore by choking up on the pick with the players' finger the forward half of the pick can be used to employ the full rigidity of the front portion of the pick.

  • Publication number: 20060107818
Abstract: A device is provided for dampening the impact vibration of elongated manual tools that have a handle, such as drumsticks and hammers. The device includes means for dampening the vibration caused when striking tool onto a hard surface, and means for removably joining the dampening means to the end of the tool's handle. Some embodiments further include means for standing off the dampening means from being fully applied onto the end of the tool's handle. In many applications, embodiments of the present dampening device help reduce fatigue and injury due to impact vibrations being transmitting to the user.

  • Patent number: 6639136
Abstract: A pick holder that is secured in the strings of a stringed instrument, specifically a guitar. The pick holder includes an elongated attaching base that is inserted between two of the stings of the instrument. The base of the pick holder is placed between the two strings, and the pick holder is then rotated so that the base is secured between the strings and the upper end of the neck of the guitar, above the first fret. The main body of the pick holder includes a plurality of tapered slots to hold picks. An upper wedge of the main body provides a securing pressure against lower retaining portions.

  • Patent number: 6440265
Abstract: An improved hood enclosure for isolating wood pulp washing equipment from the ambient environment. The hood has a pair of end members, a pair of skirts along each side to connect to the end member together, and an upper spine also connected at each end to the end members. A pair of clamshell style doors are mounted to the spine along longitudinal hinge lines and are opened vertically. A plurality of access doors are positioned within the skirts, and a plurality of spray or shower pipes penetrate the hood through an end panel to deliver wash liquid to the internal wash drums positioned within the wash vat. Several sealing methods are incorporated to provide sealable access for the access doors, the clamshell doors, and access to the interior of the washing vat for the shower pipes. The clamshell doors abut a peripheral neoprene sealing gasket and are held against the gasket by their own weight.
