Abstract: A continuous papermaking machine including a headbox for discharging a suspension of cellulose fibers in water, a forming wire moving in a process direction, the forming wire receiving the suspension from the headbox such that a web is formed on the forming wire, a top former above the forming wire for upwardly removing water from the web, the top former comprising a lead out roll, a dewatering device below the forming wire and downstream from the top former, and an applicator positioned above the forming wire and downstream from the lead out roll of the top former, the applicator discharging onto the web a mixture that includes microfibrillated cellulose and a carrier.

Abstract: A coated paperboard container includes an inner paperboard substrate, an outer paperboard substrate, a first aqueous barrier coating located on the inner paperboard substrate, and a second aqueous barrier coating located on the outer paperboard substrate. The inner paperboard substrate and the outer paperboard substrate are coupled with an adhesive. The first aqueous barrier coating and the second aqueous barrier coating include a pigment and a binder and the first aqueous barrier coating is heat sealable.

Abstract: A method for applying a multi-layer coating includes passing a substrate through a nip defined by two rolls to apply a first thickness of a first liquid coating material, applying a second liquid coating material on the first liquid coating material having the first thickness as applied by passing through the nip, and controlling a thickness of the applied second liquid coating material.

Abstract: A packaging blank can include a paper base, and a coating disposed on and/or within the paper base. The coating can include wax and at least some calcium carbonate. The paper base can be corrugated paper board, for example. The wax can be or include paraffin wax, or any other suitable wax or substance that performs similarly to wax (e.g., for moisture proofing) and can be mixed with calcium carbonate.
