Abstract: The present invention features, inter alia, compositions and methods useful for identifying one or more types of microorganisms, if and when present, in a sample or plurality of samples (e.g., in one or more samples tested in parallel). More specifically, the present compositions and methods can be used in, e.g., determining whether a subject has a microbial infection (e.g., a bacterial, fungal, protozoal, or viral infection), determining the identity of the microbe(s) causing the infection, and/or determining, or helping to determine, an appropriate anti-microbial treatment regimen for a subject identified as having an infection (e.g., an appropriate antibiotic, anti-fungal, anti-viral, or other treatment regimen).
