  • Publication number: 20080168683
Abstract: A shoe such as an infant's shoe includes a sole and an upper with the upper formed by a forefoot portion and a heel portion. When an infant's foot is to be placed in the shoe, the heel portion is configured to be pivoted with respect to the forefoot portion to an open position to allow the foot to slide into the forefoot portion. According to an example, after the foot is received in the forefoot portion, the heel portion is pivoted to a substantially closed position and one or more securing devices associated with each of the forefoot portion and heel portion are engaged to secure the shoe on the infant's foot.

  • Publication number: 20060279373
Abstract: A polarization modulator device for modulating a polarization of an electromagnetic wave includes a corrugated metallic waveguide having an interior cylindrical opening defined therein and situated along a longitudinal axis of the waveguide. The corrugated metallic waveguide also has a first waveguide section and a second waveguide section. The waveguide sections are separated by a dielectric break. A central structure is situated along the longitudinal axis of the waveguide. The central structure is supported substantially in the center of the interior cylindrical opening of the waveguide. The cylinder is substantially situated within the dielectric break of the waveguide. A magnetic field source is configured to permit a controllable magnetic field in the cylinder, wherein the magnetic field modulates a polarization of the electromagnetic wave by an angle related to the strength of the magnetic field. A polarimeter using the polarization modulator is also described.

  • Patent number: 5848698
Abstract: Improvements may be incorporated in the literature holder and blank therefor which allow it to firmly hold upright for display one or two pieces of literature without support of a bottom panel, and which improvement provides a more economical blank, and provides access for insertion and withdrawal of literature from two open sides of the assembled holder; as well as an improvement which allows the blank and literature holder formed from it to dispense literature from the top of, or from the front of the holder; and an improvement which enables the blank and literature holder assembled therefrom to reduce space required by the holder.

  • Patent number: 5695061
Abstract: Improvements may be incorporated in the literature holder and blank therefor, which allow it to be attached to display surfaces other than shelf pricing channel. For attachment of the literature holder to vertical surface with horizontal opening, improvement may be made wherein four cuts are made from the four points where the shelf strip panels meet the side panels, and which said cuts extend to a point which enables the shelf strip panels to be flexed so they may be inserted in horizontal openings of vertical surface. Improvement may be made to the holder and blank therefore with addition of four holes located so that cuts may be made to them from the four points where the shelf strip panels meet the side panels, which enables the shelf strip panels to be flexed so they may be inserted in horizontal openings of a vertical surface.
