  • Patent number: 10736398
Abstract: A hair pulling apparatus includes a frame having a longitudinal axis, a first leg extending from the frame, a movable leg spaced apart from the first leg, the movable leg extending from the frame and movable, linearly, relative to the frame, a control system comprising a processor to execute a plurality of pulling profile instructions stored in memory, a linear actuator operatively coupled to the control system and constructed to move linearly along the longitudinal axis relative to the frame, a gripper coupled to the linear actuator, and a load cell coupled to the linear actuator. When one or more of the plurality of pulling profile instructions stored in memory are executed by the processor, the control system causes the linear actuator to retract along the longitudinal axis, applying a pulling force to a strand of hair gripped by the gripper in order to measure the pulling force.

  • Publication number: 20090274642
Abstract: Hair care compositions, methods, and methods of marketing that can prevent oxidative damage to hair. Such compositions comprise a follicular fungi reduction agent (“FFRA”) and can be applied to any areas where the appearance of less oxidative damage is desired, such as the scalp or face. The present invention also relates to methods of using and marketing such compositions.

  • Publication number: 20090264449
Abstract: Disclosed in a hair care composition comprising: (i) a hair diameter increasing agent comprising a xanthine compound, a vitamin B3 compound, and a panthenol compound; and (ii) an carrier comprising water and monohydric alcohols having 1 to 6 carbons; wherein the monohydric alcohol is present in the composition at a level by weight of from about 10% to about 90%, preferably from about 30% to 90%, and wherein the composition may further comprises a substantially soluble silicone conditioning agent and/or a thickener. The hair care compositions of the present invention provide improved hair diameter increase benefit. The hair care compositions of the present invention also provide improved feel during usage and/or after usage, while not-compromising the penetration of the hair diameter increasing agent.

  • Publication number: 20090220448
Abstract: Disclosed in a hair care composition comprising: (i) a deposition agent which is in a solid particulate form on the hair; (ii) an adhesive agent which adhere the deposition agent to the hair; and (iii) an carrier; wherein either or both of the deposition agent and the adhesive agent comprises an agent which increases hair diameter; and wherein, when the deposition agent is the hair diameter increasing agent, such agents are those being substantially soluble in the composition and forming solid particulate on the hair. The hair care compositions of the present invention provide an increase of hair diameters and provide an immediate increase of the fullness and/or thickness of hair appearance.

  • Publication number: 20090220445
Abstract: Disclosed in a hair care composition comprising: a hair care composition comprises: A) a hair diameter increasing agent comprising: a xanthine compound; a vitamin B3 compound; and a panthenol compound; B) an additional benefit agent, such additional benefit is selected from the group consisting of hair volume-up, hair conditioning, hair strengthening, scalp sensation, hair color, scent, and mixtures thereof; and C) a carrier. The hair care compositions of the present invention increase hair diameter, and also provide: motivation to consumers to use such compositions for a longer period of time so that consumers can obtain hair diameter increase benefit; and/or at least one additional benefit, while not-compromising the penetration of the hair diameter increasing agent.
