  • Patent number: 4560082
Abstract: A lid for a pilfer evident container has an inverted U-section rim in which nests an inverted U-section lip of a container, the lid rim having at least one opening in the outer limb, the outer limb of the container lip and lid rim being continuous around the lid, with the former having an outwardly projecting portion which is received by the lid opening to prevent removal of the lid after application to the container, the lid being removable by rupturing the connection between that part of the lid outer limb in the path of which, in the direction of lid removal, lies the outwardly projecting portion of the container rim.

  • Patent number: 4465205
Abstract: A tamper evident retainer to hold a closure and container in closed condition, the retainer having a displaceable extension flange carrying retaining means, in the initial condition of the retainer, before application of the closure to the container, the retainer having the extension flange and retaining means out of the path of relative movement of the closure and container during closing and being displaceable to position the retaining means in the path of relative movement of the closure and container during opening, the retainer having a weakened zone so that access can be had to the container by rupturing the weakened zone to release the retaining means and thereby allow the closure to be removed from the container.

  • Patent number: 4230659
Abstract: A method of making a wall of a container which wall is to be ruptured to gain access to the interior of the container, the method comprising forming a weakening in the wall corresponding to the path along which the wall is to be ruptured, locating the wall between mould tools which are formed as to one of them with a bead recess which will overlie the weakening and as to the other with a rupture recess in register with the bead recess, injecting material into the bead recess to displace the wall regions adjacent the path into the rupture recess to further weaken the connection between the wall parts to either side of the said path, and to form a seal therebetween and removing the wall from the tools.

  • Patent number: 4149838
Abstract: A machine for making a composite article including a sheet material blank and an injection moulding thereon, comprises first and second cavity tools which are relatively movable between open and closed conditions and in the latter define a cavity, and a core tool movable relative to the cavity tools between open and closed conditions in the latter of which the core tool and first cavity tool together define a blank receiving cavity and the core and first and second cavity tools together define a mould cavity, the second cavity tool lying between the first cavity tool and the core tool when the tools are in open condition and supporting guide means for guiding a blank falling under gravity from a blank magazine to a position in the path of relative movement tools and between the core tool and the second cavity tool when the tools are in open condition, stop means on the core tool extending into the guide means to support a blank therein above the tools when the tools are in closed condition and to permit the b

  • Patent number: 4123214
Abstract: Apparatus for making a frusto-conical container from a blank having a base panel and side panels which are folded relative to the base, clamped between tools of an injection moulding machine and seamed by injected material fed along one face of the blank, the other faces of the side panels spanning a circumferential channel into which they are forced by injected material to form a circumferential bead, at the axial seams the channel being reduced in depth to support the side panels against displacement of the edges by injected material such as will allow injected material to reach that face of the blank nearest the channel.
