  • Publication number: 20130259767
Abstract: A wire standoff suitable for use in a tubular reactor, such as a reformer, is described. The wire standoff includes a portion or segment positioned between an outer reactor tube and one or more reactor components located within the tube. The reactor components and the outer tube are prevented from coming into directed contact with one another by the positioning of the wire standoff. The wire standoff can be secured to a reactor component at one of its ends or to a washer located between stacked reactor components. Prevention of the reactor components from contact with the outer tube promotes fluid flow through the reactor and can enhance heat transfer and reactor efficiency for carrying out catalytic reactions.

  • Publication number: 20130013085
Abstract: An energy-storing prosthetic knee includes an upper leg structure and a lower leg structure hingedly connected to the upper leg structure. The lower and upper leg structures move pivotally relative to one another. A fluid actuator is operatively connected to the upper and lower leg structures such that relative pivotal movement of the upper and lower leg structures causes a fluid to flow in a predetermined manner within the fluid actuator. At least two controllable variable fluid flow resisting devices, an accumulator, and a control system are also provided. The control system is actuable to cause storage of the fluid energy for a predetermined length of time and release of the fluid energy at a predetermined time during the gait cycle. Both the storage and release of the fluid energy are variable by action of the control system without physical modification of other components of the prosthetic knee.

  • Patent number: 7758786
Abstract: Decorative textured surfaces are formed on articles having curved or contoured surfaces. A reusable, flexible textured blanket is placed in a mold along with a first material charge. A pressurizer is used to both impart the texture of the blanket to the first material charge and consolidate the charge to form a textured shell. The blanket is removed from the mold and a second material charge is introduced into the mold over the shell. The application of heat and pressure consolidates the second material charge and the shell to both form and cure the completed article.

  • Patent number: 4276790
Abstract: A ratcheting open-ended wrench includes a fixed jaw and a pivoted jaw arranged in relationship to each other to define an in-line insertion opening aligned with the operating handle portion in accordance with a conventional open-ended wrench. The fixed and pivoted jaws are formed with cooperating notched faces creating a multiple pointed configuration equivalent to a socket or closed-end wrench for mating with a hex-type head in different angular orientation. The fixed and pivoted jaw include a force transmission arm and recess such that the turning force is transmitted from the fixed jaw directly to the pivoted jaw. The pivoted jaw has a pivoted connection to one side of the handle and extends across the end of the handle and then outwardly to locate the fulcrum permitting application of closing forces in one direction and the ratcheting release on the reverse stroke.
