  • Publication number: 20090326949
Abstract: A method is provided for extracting meta data from a digital media storage device in a vehicle over a communication link between a control module of the vehicle and the digital media storage device. The method includes establishing a communication link between control module of the vehicle and the digital media storage device, identifying a media file on the digital media storage device, and retrieving meta data from a media file, the meta data including a plurality of entries, wherein at least one of the plurality of entries includes text data. The method further includes identifying the text data in an entry of the media file and storing the plurality of entries in a memory.

  • Publication number: 20090011799
Abstract: A method is provided for creating a phonebook for a hands-free telephone system in a vehicle using phonebook entries retrieved from a remote phonebook of a mobile phone over a wireless communication link between a control module of the hands-free telephone system and the mobile phone. The method includes receiving a remote phonebook from the mobile phone, the remote phonebook including a plurality of entries, each entry including text data and numeric data, identifying the text data in each entry, generating an acoustic baseform for each entry based on the text data for each entry, storing the acoustic baseform for each entry in a baseform list, and storing the plurality of entries in a mobile phonebook associated with the baseform list.

  • Publication number: 20070233725
Abstract: A control system in a vehicle for extracting meta data from a digital media storage device over a communication link. The system includes a communication module for establishing a communication link with the digital media storage device. The system also includes a processing module coupled to the communication module. The processing module is configured to retrieve, via the communication module, meta data associated with a media file from the digital media storage device. The meta data includes a plurality of entries, wherein at least one of the plurality of entries includes text data. The processing module is also configured to compare the text data of the entries with a set of data files stored in a database. The system also includes a memory module configured to store the plurality of entries retrieved from the digital media storage device.

  • Patent number: 6092111
Abstract: A method of operation of a data communications system (5) with session control having a data communications network (10) and at least a first communications device (1), a second communications device (2) and a third commnunications device (3) in communications with the data communications network (10). The data communications network (10) identifies a fault status change in communications with the first communications device (1), generates a session control command (6) with an identification number (7) attached responsive to identifying the fault status change and sending the session control command (6) to at least the second and the third communications devices (2 and 3). At least at the second communications device (2), the second communications device (2) receives the session control command (6), deter-mines from the identification number (7) whether the second communications device (2) is affected by the fault status change and selectively performs a session control action in response thereto.

  • Patent number: 5524280
Abstract: In a general frequency reuse data communications system including infrastructure 100 and a subscriber terminal 115 a method of acquiring a channel includes: fast scanning 199 a predetermined list of data channels to identify a fast scanned channel; intermediate scanning 200, when the fast scanned channel is not identified, the predetermined list of channels to identify an intermediate scanned channel where a channel from the predetermined list of channels is evaluated for a first time period; and slow scanning 500, when the intermediate scanned channel is not identified, the predetermined list of channels to identify a slow scanned channel where a channel from the predetermined list of channels is evaluated for a second time period.
