  • Patent number: 9815388
Abstract: Systems and methods for seat positioning modification in a vehicle are described. One embodiment of a method includes arranging a first movable seat in a default arrangement of a vehicle in preparation for receiving a passenger and determining an occurrence of an external triggering event to the vehicle. Some embodiments include, in response to determining the occurrence of the external triggering event, automatically rearranging the first movable seat to a second arrangement to accommodate for the external triggering event.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 2, 2016
Date of Patent: November 14, 2017
Assignee: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc.

  • Patent number: 9771021
Abstract: Pedestrian marking systems, vehicles containing the same, and methods of providing pedestrian marking lighting are disclosed. A system includes a light emitting module having light emitting diodes, a sensor module, and a master controller. The master controller is includes a storage medium with instructions that direct the master controller to receive data from the sensor module, where the data provides an indication of a pedestrian located in the vicinity of the vehicle, determine location coordinates of the pedestrian, determine a direction of light based on the location coordinates such that the light is aimed at the pedestrian, direct the light emitting module to selectively activate the light emitting diodes such that the light emitting diodes produce a collective beam that corresponds to the first direction, determine that the vehicle is turning in a direction towards the pedestrian, and provide a notification to the pedestrian that the vehicle is turning.

  • Patent number: 9566901
Abstract: Side marker lighting systems, methods of providing side marker lighting, and vehicles including the same are disclosed. A side marker lighting system includes a light emitting module having a plurality of light emitting diodes, a sensor module, and a master controller having instructions to receive data from the sensor module, where the data is indicative of a vehicle located in the vicinity of the side marker lighting system, determine that the vehicle is moving toward the system at an angle, determine location coordinates of the vehicle with respect to the system, determine a direction of light based on the location coordinates of the vehicle such that the direction of light is aimed at the vehicle, and direct the light emitting module to selectively activate the light emitting diodes such that the light emitting diodes produce a collective beam that corresponds to the first direction.
