  • Publication number: 20180158444
Abstract: Sound insulation constructions, multilayer constructions for acoustically insulating a source of sound from a receiver that include one or more sound insulation constructions, structures comprising one or more sound insulation constructions and/or multilayer constructions, and a method for acoustically insulating a source of sound from a receiver. In some embodiments, the sound insulation construction includes a first layer and a second layer. The first layer can include a bonded fiber nonwoven web exhibiting a work of compression of at least about 0.7 kJ/m3 and an airflow resistance of no greater than 10,000 Rayls/m. The second layer can exhibit an airflow resistance of greater than 10,000 Rayls/m. In some embodiments, the method includes coupling the first layer to a surface of a vehicle to attenuate sound in at least a portion of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20180051402
Abstract: A blend of polyester staple fibers and insulation fill materials useful as a replacement for natural down in articles such as outdoor apparel, sleeping bags, bedding, etc. The blend includes first, second and optionally third polyester staple fiber formats that differing in terms of average diameter. A length of substantially all the fibers of the blend is in the range of about 16 to about 63 mm, alternatively 20-40 mm. At least a majority of the fibers of the blend are opened. In some embodiments, some or substantially all of the fibers of the blend are crimped and/or include a lubricant (e.g., siliconized). One non-limiting example blend includes 20-30 weight percent of not greater than 1 Denier fibers, 20-30 weight percent of greater than 1 up to 2 Denier fibers, and 40-60 weight percent of greater than 2 Denier fibers.

  • Patent number: 9827657
Abstract: A tool aligns a snap-ring with a sink-flange tailpiece of a garbage disposal, and is used to slide the ring up along the tailpiece outer surface to a groove. The tool expands the snap-ring, prior to installation on the tailpiece, by an expansion mechanism, to a diameter that is slightly larger than the outer diameter of the tailpiece. The tool receives a stack of conventional disposal components on the tool top end, so the user with one hand can raise the tool and the stack to the tailpiece, and the fingers and thumb of the one hand can push the expanded snap-ring upward to reach and snap into the groove. The expansion mechanism may be a tapered tool bottom end, an expander tab, and/or an adaptation wherein the tool is reduced in diameter to fit inside a relaxed snap-ring and then increased in diameter to expand the snap-ring.
