  • Patent number: 5455870
Abstract: An automated electronic module inspection system having illumination sources that produce digitized gray scale images that are then analyzed by a computer. The inspection system illuminates the module including solder joints, components and printed circuit board using a sequence of illumination that produce visual images which are used to identify defects. The inspection system inspects for all defects as specified in MIL-STD-2000A (Section 4.4) by using both surface reflectance properties as well as topological properties of objects. The system comprises two video cameras. A positioning table aligns a module-under-test with the optical axis of each camera thereby enabling the same field-of-view to be observed under different lighting conditions. A dark field illumination associated with a first camera preferentially illuminates non-flat surfaces, but not vertical surfaces. A bright field illumination associated with a second camera preferentially illuminates relatively flat surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4833942
Abstract: A torque feedback multistate transmission employing an adjustable differential transmission with one or more planetary gear systems for providing improved efficiency under stationary load conditions and infinitely variable output during each state of the transmission. In one embodiment there is provided a pair of planetary gear systems, a reversing mechanism, a first transmission to establish the state, and a second transmission to provide continuous power flow during shifting of the first transmission. A differential transmission provides continuous variable output during each state of the multistate transmission.

  • Patent number: 4637275
Abstract: A torque feedback hydromechanical transmission having one or more planetary gear trains. In one embodiment, feedback comprises a variable displacement hydraulic motor mechanically interconnected to the input shaft and a fixed displacement hydraulic pump driven by the ring gear and supplying hydraulic fluid to the motor. Control over torque and speed ratio is exercised by adjusting displacement within the motor. In other embodiments some of the feedback is mechanical in order to reduce the load on the hydraulic motor and pump.

  • Patent number: 4545204
Abstract: A hydraulic transmission with infinitely variability comprising a pair of identical cages in mirror image configuration containing radial slots, radial and axial vanes within the slots and camming surfaces to reciprocate the radial and axial vanes over the rotation of the cages, a non-rotatable but axially slidable cylinder for forming chambers within the slots of the cages, one of the cages being the pump and the other the hydraulic motor, and provision to slide the cylinder to adjust differentially the volumes within the chambers and therefore the input to output torque speed ratios of the transmission.
