  • Patent number: 12220507
Abstract: Dialysis systems are disclosed comprising new fluid flow circuits. Systems may include blood and dialysate flow paths, where the dialysate flow path includes balancing, mixing, and/or directing circuits. Dialysate preparation may be decoupled from patient dialysis. Circuits may be defined within one or more cassettes. The fluid circuit fluid flow paths may be isolated from electrical components. A gas supply in fluid communication with the dialysate flow path and/or the dialyzer able to urge dialysate through the dialyzer and urge blood back to the patient may be included for certain emergency situations. Fluid handling devices, such as pumps, valves, and mixers that can be actuated using a control fluid may be included. Control fluid may be delivered by an external pump or other device, which may be detachable and/or generally rigid, optionally with a diaphragm dividing the device into first and second compartments.

  • Publication number: 20250018097
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to hemodialysis and similar dialysis systems, including a variety of systems and methods that would make hemodialysis more efficient, easier, and/or more affordable. One aspect of the invention is generally directed to new fluid circuits for fluid flow. In one set of embodiments, a hemodialysis system may include a blood flow path and a dialysate flow path, where the dialysate flow path includes one or more of a balancing circuit, a mixing circuit, and/or a directing circuit. Preparation of dialysate by the preparation circuit, in some instances, may be decoupled from patient dialysis. In some cases, the circuits are defined, at least partially, within one or more cassettes, optionally interconnected with conduits, pumps, or the like. In one embodiment, the fluid circuit and/or the various fluid flow paths may be at least partially isolated, spatially and/or thermally, from electrical components of the hemodialysis system.

  • Publication number: 20240350221
Abstract: Systems and methods for using a sterile drape with a surgical table are described. The system includes a sterile drape and at least one securement device that secure the sterile drape to the surgical table. The securement device may be an adhesive sticker having a perforation. Because of the perforation, the sticker is prone to break under small levels of force exerted on the sticker. In this way, a user can visually determine whether potential breaches of sterility have occurred when the sticker has broken. Additionally, the system may include magnets, weights, poly-ties, rubber bands, hooks, clips, buckles, adhesive tabs, straps, tape, and the like to secure the sterile drape to the surgical table. In this way, the surgical table can be prepared, the sterile drape can be installed, and the drape can be secured to the table to prevent breaches of sterility.

  • Patent number: 10835337
Abstract: Systems and methods for a sterile imaging protective system are described. The system preferably includes a first flexible drape with a cavity configured to surround an imaging intensifier and a second drape that is attached to an operating table or patient drape. The second drape has a proximal portion, a distal portion, a pocket therebetween with a top sterile portion and a lower portion, and a plurality of reusable fasteners that allows the second drape to be repeatedly moved from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration. When in the expanded configuration, the second drape is releasably attached to the first drape. The system may also include a third drape located on the opposite side of the operating table as the second drape. The drapes preferably allow sterility to be maintained during movement of the c-arm imaging system.

  • Patent number: 10517763
Abstract: A flip-to-wear eye shield system is provided. By integrating a hinge into elements of the frame and/or the lens, the eye shield can be manufactured and assembled more quickly and with less costs. In an embodiment, a lens may click (or snap) onto molded posts of a frame in a substantially flat position. An integrated living hinge in the frame may bend to allow the lens to flip downwards toward the frame to a second position for use. The posts may also click (or snap) into place in an underside of the frames. In another embodiment, a lens may click (or snap) onto molded posts of a flame in a substantially flat position. An integrated living hinge, formed by notches in the lens, may allow the lens to bend to flip downwards to the frame to a second position for use. A dispenser allows storing the eye shields in the flat position and dispensing in the second position for use.

  • Patent number: 9851080
Abstract: In one aspect, a user-wearable illumination assembly includes eyeglass frames and a headlamp removably coupled to the eyeglass frames. Electrical circuitry may be integrated with the eyeglass frames. The headlamp and the eyeglass frames have mounting structure that cooperate to removably support the headlamp thereon. A light source is disposed within the headlamp and electrical communication between the light source and the electrical circuitry of the eyeglass frames is provided by electrical contacts associated with the mounting structures of the headlamp and eyeglass frames. In another aspect, a user-wearable illumination assembly for use with eyeglass frames includes a clip assembly that is selectively removably couplable to a bridge portion of the eyeglass frames, and a headlamp coupled to the clip assembly. The illumination assembly further includes a battery that is selectively removably couplable to the eyeglass frames and at least one electrical conductor coupling the battery to the headlamp.

  • Patent number: 9532617
Abstract: A disposable face shield with a shield with a plurality of cuts is described. A foam member is connected to the shield to provide added comfort. The foam member may contain a plurality of openings extending through the member. The openings allow for increased air movement around the shield. The cuts in the shield may be above the foam member to create tabs which may be bent to at least partially cover the openings that extend through the foam member. Additionally, a pair of parallel cuts may be made on either side of the shield, the cuts adjustably engaging an elastic strap. This configuration allows the elastic strap to be comfortably adjusted to conform to a number of different sized heads.

  • Patent number: 9433468
Abstract: A sheath includes a plurality of layers coupled to one another and configured to cover a medical or dental instrument. The sheath may include an instrument cover segment and a cable cover segment attached to each other. When in a pre-use configuration, such as when packaged, the cable cover segment may define an inside-out position and overlie at least a portion of the instrument cover segment. When in an in-use configuration, such as when the sheath is installed over a medical or dental instrument, the cable cover segment may define an outside-out position and extend longitudinally with respect to the instrument cover segment.
