Patent number: 12285308Abstract: Dental matrix band devices including a housing with a band, a tensioning mechanism for the band with the control for the tensioning mechanism controllable by a control knob external to the housing, and at least one deflector pushbutton. The deflector pushbutton(s) applies pressure on an upper or lower portion of the band causing the geometry of the band to change. The resulting band geometry forms a conical loop better matching the configuration of a tooth. In one embodiment two deflector pushbuttons are provided and positioned to apply pressure on the upper or lower portion of the band depending on which deflector pushbutton is depressed in the housing. In another embodiment a single deflector pushbutton unit is provided with a pushbutton at each end.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2023Date of Patent: April 29, 2025Assignee: Medicom Group Inc.Inventors: Brian Lo, Richard Paré, Gabrielle Poirier, Benoit Orban, Jason Randall Ludvig, Shawn Jordan Fried, Nektaria Markoglou

Patent number: 12089295Abstract: A method for providing multiple virtual interfaces over a single physical interface of a gateway device includes configuring a first physical Wi-Fi interface with a first virtual interface for a WAN side and a second virtual interface for a LAN side by assigning SSIDs to the first virtual interface and the second virtual interface, and storing the SSIDs as virtual interface configuration data. The method further includes determining whether a packet is received over the first virtual interface or the second virtual interface based on the virtual interface configuration data, and performing virtual input processing to manage flow of the packet to a router, depending on the input virtual interface, by tagging the packet as WAN traffic associated with the first virtual interface based on the WAN SSID or as LAN traffic associated with the second virtual interface based on the LAN SSID, and forwarding the packet to the router.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2021Date of Patent: September 10, 2024Assignee: ARRIS ENTERPRISES LLCInventors: Gregory Nobutaka Nakanishi, Kwoktung Brian Lo, Ken Haase

Patent number: 12082045Abstract: A method of OFDMA subcarrier allocation for stations in a wireless network includes determining a total downlink buffered traffic load for downlink traffic from a gateway device to the stations, and receiving a total uplink buffered traffic load for uplink traffic from the stations to the gateway device. The method further includes determining a first ratio of total downlink buffered traffic load for each station in relation to total downlink buffered traffic load for all stations, determining a second ratio of total uplink buffered traffic load for each station in relation to total uplink buffered traffic load for all stations, performing OFDMA subcarrier allocation for the downlink traffic by assigning available channel bandwidth proportional to the first ratio for each station, and performing OFDMA subcarrier allocation for the uplink traffic by assigning available channel bandwidth proportional to the second ratio for each station.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2023Date of Patent: September 3, 2024Assignee: ARRIS ENTERPRISES LLCInventors: Jay William Strater, Gregory Nobutaka Nakanishi, Kwoktung Brian Lo

Publication number: 20170094836Abstract: A fluid-cooled electronics assembly for high-power electronics includes an arrangement of electronic components that defines an upper-side of the arrangement and a lower-side of the arrangement opposite the upper-side. An upper-chamber is thermally coupled to the upper-side, and a lower-chamber thermally coupled to the lower-side. The upper-chamber and the lower-chamber are further configured to direct flowing-coolant series-wise from the lower-chamber into the upper-chamber. The upper-chamber and the lower-chamber are further configured to cooperatively define a manifold-connection operable to couple the assembly to a manifold-outlet and a manifold-inlet of a coolant-manifold. The assembly also includes a fitting configured to define an inlet-port of the assembly that directs the flowing-coolant from the manifold-outlet to the lower-inlet, and an outlet-port that directs the flowing-coolant from the upper-outlet to the manifold-inlet.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 4, 2016Publication date: March 30, 2017Inventors: Brian Lo, Mark A. Patent number: 7752063Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer systems, are provided for securitizing a mortality risk. A premium is received by an issuer from a counterparty, and the issuer provides coverage of a mortality risk to the counterparty. An investment is received by the issuer from an investor, and the issuer provides a risk instrument to the investor. The risk instrument provides a contingent return of the investment to the investor, where if a first condition is satisfied then the entire investment is returned, if a second condition is satisfied then none of the investment is returned, and if neither the first nor the second conditions are satisfied then a portion of the investment is returned. The first and second conditions are related to the mortality risk.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2004Date of Patent: July 6, 2010Assignee: Swiss Reinsurance CompanyInventors: Ronald Klein, Brian Lo

Patent number: 7734758Abstract: A universal serial bus (USB) remote host control driver includes a connection to a local network, a network protocol stack and a memory for storing network addresses of USB device adapters and USB devices on the network. A USB device adapter has one or more USB ports, a network connection, a network address, and a network protocol stack. Together, the USB remote host control driver and the USB device adapter enable interaction between a network computer and peripheral USB devices on the network.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2000Date of Patent: June 8, 2010Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Brian Lo Bue, Darrell Shively, Larry Nadeau, Thomas A. Patent number: 7526533Abstract: A method and apparatus for network server recovery maintains an ongoing call by reconstructing its call context from a server-state attribute (SSA) that is generated by a first server, recorded in separate storage and retrieved by a second server in the event that a connection to the first server is interrupted. The SSA encodes call data that can be used to enable a server to maintain the call. The separate storage is preferably associated with a network access server (NAS) that does not itself use the SSA.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1999Date of Patent: April 28, 2009Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Brian Lo Bue, Darrell Myers Shively, II, Larry Nadeau
