  • Publication number: 20160076512
Abstract: A method and system of connecting buoyant members of an Attenuator type Wave Energy Converter (WEC] for converting the energy of water waves to electricity. By coupling a joint between two buoyant members of the WEC into the hull of one of the members, removes the joint from the exposure of the elements, slowing down the wear and tear on the joint from wind, sun and water. Furthermore, any required repair of the joint occurs in the substantially dry hull of one of the members reducing the need for the repair to be conducted in water. The joint keeps the members linked during heave, roll and yaw forces placed on the linked members by the moving water.

  • Publication number: 20160076513
Abstract: A system and method comprising a first, second and third hull. An arm extending from the first hull to the second hull where the arm is coupled to a power take off module in the second hull for transferring relative motion between the second hull and the arm into electrical energy. A second arm extending from the second hull to the third hull. The second arm coupled to another power take off device in the third hull for transferring relative motion between the third hull and the second arm into electrical energy.

  • Patent number: 8814745
Abstract: The brake system includes a sun gear fixedly mounted to an input shaft. The sun gear is mounted inside a planetary chassis between two pinion gears. The sun gear has teeth protruding from its circumference on both sides thereof. The teeth are aligned in such a way that when the sun gear is turned to a neutral position, the teeth are engaged with the pinion gears, preventing a rotation of the pinion gears, and when the sun gear is rotated away from the neutral position, the teeth are disengaged from the pinion gears allowing the pinion gears to rotate. When no torque is applied to the input shaft, the sun gear is urged back to its neutral position. In a second embodiment, the sun gear is urged in a drag mode against the trailing side of the teeth on the pinion gears, for producing a pawl-and-latch noise during use.
