  • Publication number: 20150371424
Abstract: A multi-instance, multi-user animation platform includes a plurality of modeled parallel dimensions in a computer memory. Each of the parallel dimensions may be an independent model of a physical, three-dimensional space having corresponding features such that the parallel dimensions are recognizable as counterparts to each other. Avatars are located within corresponding ones of the parallel dimensions so as to prevent over-population of any one of the parallel dimensions by avatars. Avatars are animated within different ones of the parallel dimensions using input from respective users to provide virtual-reality data. A common space is modeled in the computer memory configured in relation to the plurality of parallel instances so that an object located inside the common space is visible from viewpoints located inside each of the plurality of parallel instances. Remote clients may output an animated display of a corresponding one of the parallel dimensions and avatars therein.

  • Patent number: 9208598
Abstract: In a multi-participant modeled virtual reality environment, avatars are modeled beings that include moveable eyes creating the impression of an apparent gaze direction. Control of eye movement may be performed autonomously using software to select and prioritize targets in a visual field. Sequence and duration of apparent gaze may then be controlled using automatically determined priorities. Optionally, user preferences for object characteristics may be factored into determining priority of apparent gaze. Resulting modeled avatars are rendered on client displays to provide more lifelike and interesting avatar depictions with shifting gaze directions.

  • Publication number: 20150312203
Abstract: A method for using a wireless receiver may include receiving subscribed messages for a user identified with a user account of a hub, being messages posted by other uses of the hub to which the user has subscribed. The method may include automatically processing the messages to determine content for display on a display device, and displaying the content on the display device. The display device may be configured as two separate screens mounted at separate locations on the user's body. The messages may include user status messages, which are messages posted to the hub by the user, and the user status messages and subscription messages may be displayed on separate ones of the two screens. An apparatus for performing the method may include a processor coupled to a memory holding encoded instructions for performing operations of the method.

  • Publication number: 20150278604
Abstract: Systems, devices and methods for managing information about living beings and/or objects are disclosed. The systems and methods of the present invention comprise operably coupling together at least two Digital Person Devices, gathering data about living beings and/or objects with one or more of the Digital Person Devices, analyzing and/or identifying the data gathered, and sharing at least a portion of the data between one or more of the Digital Person Devices so as to improve qualities and/or the quantity of available data to the devices, and/or to reduce the power, performance and/or bandwidth required by one or more of the Digital Person Devices. In some embodiments, the systems and methods also comprise operably coupling a digital professor device to the Digital Person Devices, wherein the Digital Professor Device manages the gathering of data, and/or the storing, analyzing, identifying and/or exchanging of the gathered data.

  • Publication number: 20150278677
Abstract: Systems, devices and methods for gathering, identifying, analyzing, storing and/or using massive data streams to create a virtual consciousness of a person so as to emulate the person's responses to queries from other people and/or situations after the person is no longer able to communicate are disclosed. The systems, methods and devices determine the appropriate weight to give certain subsets of data based on ambient data and/or sensor data, direct input from the person, media and/or social media, and/or constant feedback throughout the person's remaining life, and utilize computer learning techniques to learn the person's idiosyncrasies, experiences, ethics and morals, attitude, personas, communication preferences, habits, goals, aspirations, beliefs, culture, and other aspects of the person's consciousness to predict the response of the person to the queries and/or situations. The system may utilize encryption to protect data, and employ a permissions system to display certain data to appropriate people.

  • Publication number: 20150257681
Abstract: Methods and systems for determining the likelihood that a person is impaired, generally comprising gathering ambient data from sensors operably coupled to a primary measuring device (PMD), analyzing and/or identifying the ambient data, querying at least one database to identify baseline data regarding the person, and comparing the ambient data to the baseline data to determine the likelihood that the person is impaired. The methods and systems advantageously detect medical and/or cognitive impairment without the need for specialized devices, examination by specialists, consent of the person being evaluated, and compliance with recommendations to be examined, and may be applied to estimating the level of impairment of a person due to alcohol, drugs, exposure to toxic chemicals, changes to mental status, insufficient sleep, medical problems, changes to blood sugar levels, divided attention, vision changes, hearing changes, use of a mobile device while walking or operating a vehicle, and other factors.

  • Publication number: 20150262429
Abstract: Systems, devices and methods for altering sensory perceptions are disclosed. The systems and methods of the present invention comprise operably coupling at least one device for capturing sensory data to a computing device, identifying the captured data, querying at least one data base to identify desired behaviors and/or outcomes, querying the same data base or other data bases to identify and/or calculate modified, enhanced and/or virtual sensory data likely to achieve the desired behaviors or outcomes, generating modified, enhanced and/or virtual sensory data, and substituting the altered sensory data in real or near real time for the sensory data. The present invention advantageously alters sensory perceptions to promote health, ease patient's fears and allow safe performance of medical procedures, promote personal and public safety, and improve the success of military mission and operations.

  • Patent number: 9007362
Abstract: A virtual environment in generated in a server where at least one object representative of an entity interacts with other objects or attributes of the environment. A desired frame rate for rendering the virtual environment is identified, and compared to a maximum achievable frame rate at a client device. If the maximum achievable frame rate is slower than the desired frame rate, the number of objects displayed within the virtual environment is modified, in accordance with one or more rule sets, until the maximum achievable frame rate is at or near the desired frame rate. In addition, a server may provide and synchronize output for clients participating in the virtual environment using different target frame rates.

  • Patent number: 8818855
Abstract: A system and method is provided for aggregating information from a plurality of remote information systems, such as bulletin boards, over a wide area network, such that a reception device operating on an aggregated information system can receive message data contained on the plurality of remote information systems. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention an aggregating application operating on the aggregated information system is adapted to retrieve original message data (OMD), such as a previously posted new message, and response message data (RMD), such as a previously posted response message, from a plurality of remote information systems. This retrieved message data (i.e., OMD, RMD) can then be provided to at least one reception device communicating with the aggregated information system.

  • Publication number: 20140206450
Abstract: A multi-user virtual reality universe (VRU) process receives input from multiple remote clients to manipulate avatars through a modeled 3-D environment. A VRU host models movement of avatars in the VRU environment in response to client input, which each user providing input for control of a corresponding avatar. The modeled VRU data is provided by the host to client workstations for display of a simulated environment visible to all participants. The host maintains personalized data for selected modeled objects or areas that is personalized for specific users in response to client input. The host includes personalized data in modeling the VRU environment. The host may segregate VRU data provided to different clients participating in the same VRU environment according to limit personalized data to authorized users, while all users receive common data.

  • Publication number: 20140128139
Abstract: Duplicate hands are dealt in a remote game of poker or other card game of chance. Simulated cards or game pieces are dealt to players with the order of suits changed for each player. A map is maintained in a computer memory between a reference set of indices corresponding to card suits, and differently-ordered sets of paying suits for dealing in the game. A reference game is maintained at a server computer to track game status according to the reference set of indices. Game play is translated between the reference game and individual playing suits so that players are unaware of the order of suits used for other players.
