  • Patent number: 12507689
Abstract: An avian distractor device includes a clamp having a pair of jaws attached to a hinge and biased via a plurality of springs into a closed position, and a locking member disposed in communication with the pair of jaws to rigidly hold a conductor of different sizes under a force generated by the plurality of springs. A spherical diverter is provided and is rotatably attached to the hinge and the clamp. A reflective surface encircles a central portion of the spherical diverter to enhance visibility of the device to wildlife. A plurality of dimples are formed on an external surface of the spherical diverter to reduce a drag force on the device.

  • Patent number: 12147074
Abstract: Structures for a thermo-optic phase shifter and methods of forming such structures. The structure comprises a waveguide structure including a waveguide core. The structure further comprises a silicide layer, a first dielectric layer arranged in a lateral direction between the silicide layer and the waveguide core, and a second dielectric layer positioned over the waveguide core, the silicide layer, and the first dielectric layer. The first dielectric layer comprises a first material having a first thermal conductivity, and the second dielectric layer comprises a second material having a second thermal conductivity that is less than the first thermal conductivity.

  • Patent number: 6606891
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for monitoring crimping of metal end fittings onto electrically insulating core rods. The force and/or pressure applied to the metal end fittings by crimping jaws are monitored during crimping. The distance travelled by the crimping jaws is also measured during crimping. A change is detected in the relationship between the force and/or pressure and the distance travelled by the crimping jaws, such as by detecting a non-increasing force and/or pressure with an increasing distance. The methods and apparatus of the present invention may provide for detection and/or prediction of cracks in the electrically insulating core rods to improve the crimping process.
