The mutated ligand binding domain contains an amino acid sequence wherein one or more interactions that preferentially (preferably solely) occurs between a full PPAR agonist and the AF-2 domain of a wild-type PPAR are modified. Preferably, the mutated ligand binding domain is selectively bound or activated by a partial PPAR agonist.
