  • Patent number: 7751050
Abstract: A fluid quality monitoring apparatus (100) comprising a fluid flow channel (120) having a photo sensing material (104) disposed upon a first surface and a light source emitting light (132) through an opposing light transitive surface (106). The condition of the fluid affects the absorption and reflection of the light. The penetrating light is received by the photo sensing material (104), which provides an output that can be utilized to analyze the condition of the fluid. The light can be provided via a plurality of LEDS, the incorporation of a radially distributed series of fiber optic strands, or any other light source. The sensing material can include defraction gratings, improving the monitoring process. The sensing material can be incorporated in a variety of configurations. The apparatus is preferably designed to be integrated between a fluid filter and the respective filter mounting bracket.

  • Patent number: 7427153
Abstract: A fiber optic lighting device is formed by adhering fiber optic strands onto a backing material in a radial pattern. The radial pattern projects from a centralized illumination receiving port within a perimeter of the backing material. The centralized illumination receiving port transfers light from the illuminating source into the fiber optic strands. The fiber optic strands can include a surface finish, which enhances the intensity of the light emitting from the fiber optic strands. The fiber optic lighting device provides a non-linear sheared edge along the entire perimeter of the backing material. The fiber optic lighting device includes multiple arrangements of the fiber optic strands, each grouping illuminated in a manner to distinguish one arrangement from another. This provides the ability to sequence through the illumination process with the result being an animated presentation. Colors can be utilized in the illumination process to further accentuate the animation.

  • Patent number: 6905237
Abstract: An apparatus and method of manufacture is disclosed for a fiber optic lighting device. The fiber optic lighting device is formed by adhering fiber optic strands onto a backing material in a radial pattern from a centralized illumination receiving port within a perimeter of the backing material. The centralized illumination receiving port of the fiber optic strands is where the illuminating source would transfer the illuminations into the fiber optic strands. The fiber optic strands can include a surface finish, which enhances the intensity of the light emitting from the fiber optic strands. The fiber optic lighting device can provide a non-linear sheared edge along the entire perimeter of the backing material.

  • Patent number: 5381134
Abstract: An electronic device (300) has a housing (301) forming a cavity that enshrouds a circuit supporting substrate (302) having at least one electrical contact (303) coupled to a conductor (304). The conductor (304) couples an electrical signal between the electrical contact (303) and electronic circuitry (305) associated with the circuit supporting substrate (302). An aperture (306) in the housing (301) provides access to the at least one electrical contact (303). An articulable cover (307) contiguous to a surface (310) of the housing (310) blocks the aperture (306) when the electronic device (300) is disengaged from a peripheral device (308).
